As of 11.30 it would seem as if the Icemax is still away from her previous position by some 350m. Small movements are due to the icemax facing into the wind. Apparently they move the ship away from site of conductor pipe into a safe zone to build the Riser pipe and BOP. NK

At what point does hope get overtaken by reality?

The inescapable fact here is that Junior has been at the helm here for several years, and achieved the square root of sod all.

I know conditions have changed since the oil price tumbled, but has he come to terms with the new reality?

Why would anyone spend a fortune in uncertain offshore drilling when more than enough is available on land.

I have more petrol in my spare can than Junior has produced in his lifetime.

The logs being run are called MWD which means measured while drilling, this information will be available in real time, so the drilling crew and those that have security access to data can access it any time.
When drilling reaches critical sections of interest usually wire line logs are run which are more detailed and accurate.
All of the jv partners technical teams and officials in the dept of energy will have access to the daily data.
There will be wild optimism in Ireland and more measured enthusiasm in the U.K. Brokers usually look for experienced investors from Aberdeen with oil connections for signs of positive early results.

The likes of Total and Cairn would not stump up cash running into millions...they know there's oil there imo and will seek a return on their investment.
