Yep he definitely could have done with having a better broker to have picked up the loose stock from whoever the seller was the other day. At least he is back at break even after todays rise. Good opportunity for anyone to pick a few up on the cheap yesterday though.

Worth a punt at the lows now? Large volume today.
Share price has lost 50% of its value this week from the 20's - and noticed the director bought +£40ks worth at over 18p the other day.

stinker (can't better that and stay polite ;-)

It seems that we agree this is a reasonably sound company, so not sure what the argument is. I do think though that potential new investors need both sides of a story to help them make their decision.
Thanks for the filter - you are my 1st! It was fun - gl.

Crybaby,

I'm not saying they arent a good investment at this price. I'm saying, in a nice way up to this point, that you dont know what you are doing and i was trying to point you in the direction of some information which should help you judge the company in the context of its peers. I dont waste time arguing/ namecalling etc so i'm filtering you. We'll just let it go at that.

cmababy,
Re "As for access to credit, they don't even appear to need that either"

From the interim results Net borrowings reduced to € 24.4m (€ 25.6m at 31 December 2007).

They have a market cap of 13M.

Did you look at the shareprice performance of SKG?

smicker, I am speaking from experience, and most other sectors waited for September to start their nosedives.
POWR has even out-dived most mining and oil/gas stocks in Canada and the UK since April - so no I can't put this down to the same old 'crisis' excuse.
As for access to credit, they don't even appear to need that either - see below.

And that's my point - they were/and maybe are a sound company - but that won't help anyone's investment perform. No de-ramping intended, and I'm still holding - so I personally hope they get it together. However, whatever they are doing is not helping their shareholders and potential investors need to hear that.

10.01.08 (read 1st October)

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Finnish paper mill operator Powerflute Oyj said it has agreed terms with the insolvency administrator of Papierfabrik Scheufelen GmbH & Co. to buy the assets and business of Scheufelen, a German manufacturer of coated woodfree paper.

Powerflute said the agreement is subject to due diligence and final approval by the board of directors and may or may not lead to the purchase.

The acquisition will be financed from internal resources, it said.

You'd be as well to have a look at the Smurfit price as a comparison before damning this company. Theres a very obvious reason why it has headed south since April, mainly that the world economy is tanking. How are they going to make money if nobody wants their product. The company intends to buy up underperforming assets. How can it do this if the debt markets are closed to it?

Still have this one on the watchlist - looks like everyone shares your concerns MASURENGUY - no posts since march.

New low today...

Though am sure it will make a good recovery at some point.

Results look good - the current market climate and level of debt may hold this back.

As a matter of interest SmurfitKappa share price has moved similarly in magnitude to powerflute so you could assume the fall is market related rather than stock specific. Smurfit have said they arent seeing any weakness in business worth talking about

Bacchantes ltd are industry investors with a lot of market knowledge - I guess they see this as one fundamentally undervalued at 50p.

The big issue though is - will POWR be in a position to make an aquisition before the first anniversary of the listing. My guess will be yes and that will have a major bearing on the direction of thisa share.

Looks to have a mkt cap of 68M Euro and net debt of 27M Euro with a predicted EBITDA for 07 of 20M Euro. The industry is trading on a multiple of 5.5 times EBITDA at present = 110M Euro = £1.25 per share and would allow the company to buy a business of some 50M Euro on a debt position only.

Getting into value territory but I'm still cautious and think buying on acquisition news is more secure.....
