Uranium May Have 'Hyper' Price Run

Uranium prices may start to rise at the end of the year as demand from utilities improve, Uranium Energy Corp., an explorer for the nuclear fuel, said.


Prices may jump to $100 a pound from about $40 a pound now, Amir Adnani, president and chief executive officer of the U.S.- based company, said today in an interview in Hong Kong, without giving a timeframe for the target price. Prices may average about $75 a pound in the next 5 to 10 years, he said.


About 200 gigawatts of atomic capacity are planned or under construction globally, and China, India, Russia and South Korea are set to be the main drivers of uranium demand growth, according to Nomura International. Atomic-power plants risk running short of fuel within a decade because suppliers can't build enrichment facilities or recycle Soviet-era warheads fast enough, the World Nuclear Association said in a 2009 report.


"Towards the end of this year, uranium prices will start to move higher because the utilities that have uncovered forward demand will come back in the market to buy uranium either in the spot market or in the term market," said Adnani. "We are going to see some hyper activity. Prices will have a similar run-up movement witnessed in the summer of 2007" when uranium shot up to a record, he said.

zangdook - oddly I emailed HL today re their very slow site . Otherwise find them good, usually the last to close for open offers etc but charge extra for certain services eg warrants

We might see a slight drop in EXT share price if any Canadians decide to trade their EXT in for POL shares.

whilst you're selling into the canadian market at nearly 6p, it might be worth taking at short position at 30can cents - even i don't think polo is worth 20p!

shares that have been bought on lse can only be sold into lse. this is why rice is so much higher in canada - they have no stock!

BUK, £/$CAD is about 1.54 so 8cents is about 5.195p. See if they'll give you that for your holding. Bet they won't.

Ok, Call me stupid but the delayed data from TSE:POL that I've been watching started of with a 90% spread Bid 0.02 -- 0.20 Offer

It's been moving upwards slowly, but now stands at Bid 0.08 -- 0.20 Offer

Isn't CAN$0.08 equivalent to 12p a share?

Well, I just bought 150,632 shares into my Isa. Just gone through.

Hopefully the price will react positively and I can sell from my Trading account to eliminate the Spread/Stamp Duty costs

Got it pulled into Monitor and L2, but no Data population as of yet.

Also showing in my Trading Isa when I search against it but no quote availability yet.
