siwell100,

We'll have to agree to disagree here. I think there was potentially a viable business here if the right decisions were made and executed correctly. The product is good. Poker will eventually go 3d, it's a natural evolution from the current basic 2d versions... Playwize could have been at the forefront of the transition period... and benefited.

Because the profits were gained from revenue sharing, the playwize poker software should have been licensed free to clients. Little risk then for clients leading to greater take-up... leading to great revenues for Playwize...

LDMachin....You just dont understand the poker business very well I am afraid. You miss the fundamental point, why would anybody want to use PLW software if it doesnt enhace their aquisition or retention metrics. The software wasnt bad, it just didnt draw or hold the punters. PLW isnt a viable business in any shape or form. It wasnt a bad gamble by Foo, just one that didnt come of.
imo

ps...There is only one listed gambling stock worth investing in for the future and thats 888, the slickest and best managed operation on the market which may well become a giant in the future if the managements ambition is high enough. The rest are either mickey mouse penny punt gambles like LNG, tired pensioners with no vision of the future like LAD, or unburied corpses like PRTY.There will be heat and trading in and out of the sector, but 888 is the only one worth holding on merit.

LDMachin....The issue of 3D is actually pretty much an irrelevance. Poker companies are all about the application of marketing spend and beating sector metrics. 3D only became an issue as a potential way to leverage that spend ie would curiosity cause more people to try it and more importantly would it provide traction on retention. I would say that 3D has proved to be a total flop, certainly PLW gained nothing on either numbers or retention for their marketing spend.
PKR has been held up as an example of 3D success but I would suggest their gains were 99% down to exceptionally smart marketing and a very large launch budget. The major companies have all looked at but ignored 3D yet it would not cost them much to develop/launch their own systems if they had seen any marketing potential.
PLW had potential if 3D proved to be hot, but it wasnt and as such the software is pretty much worthless. "If we build it, they will come"....unfortunately nobody did. Hardly suprising Foo could never interest anybody except Ladbrokes who have been desperate to try almost anything to build their struggling poker business.
Foo has been given a hard time on here but to his credit he took the risk of developing something new and over the years supported the company and investors with huge amounts of his own money. Also to his credit he produced a very decent system, unfortunately there simply wasnt a market with the punters. It was hardly his fault the idea failed. If punters had loved it and 3D had proven to be a huge draw then both Foo and investors would be sitting pretty. I would say that it was a high risk but well executed strategy but then again the potential rewards would have been equally huge.
Those that feel aggrieved on this one simply didnt understand the online poker business or the nature of the risk/reward punt they were taking.
imo

siwel100,

I started posting the end of 2007, i would have posted earlier, but that this the time at which oneillshaun brought PLW to my attention. Do 32 red offer 3d poker? There is a viable market for 3d poker, as other companies have shown, there is plenty of money to be made. The Playwize 3d poker was good enough to be a market leader, as the reviews in the header show, unfortunately the PLW management are/were beyond useless... but they obviously thought of themselves highly to make sure they got a £100k+ salary.

Anyway, it's all irrelevent now because the management have turned a potentially great business into a non-business.

LDMachin...You have only been posting recently, we were talking about PLW not being viable back from Dec 2006. The figures just never stacked up.But its still always a great shame to see any company finally hit the buffers.

Analyst....32 Red's poker figures make interesting reading....18,272 active players producing just 1.49m.........yet claims on here that 6,000 players for PLW to breakeven is wildly exagerated....sometimes I am bemused by the optimism.
Mind you, now that 32 Red have breached their banking covenants we may soon lose the comparison

oneillshaun,

Ladbrokes will still have to pay PLW if/when Foo takes PLW and/or it's assets private...

l have been able to pick up a Ladbrokes pay poker online disk from a store in Newbury Berks. Guy behind desk explained that this was the best thing since slice bread and free. l asked him what was the take up of this disk and he said there has been a recent surge recentley but they were very slow in the begining. So if either of you want this copy send a email to me and l will forward this onto you.

You can only wish mate thats right. Anything back would be better than nothing.

The problem at the minute is would anyone actual sign on with them while suspended? I doubt it. So they either, some how find the finances to keep going, and hope Foo can find some more business or they are/we are fu*K#D.

Personaly I think they need about ten deals like lads to make the model the are on profitable. Plus the lads deal is nearly half way through. One deal a year will not keep this going.

Par12,

I was at 1p because the nominal share price value for this stock is 1p. They can't issue new equity at a price below 1p without restructuring the shares.

Have a look at LNG's RNSs last summer (2007)... they had a nominal shareprice value of 25p... the actual shareprice was below that. So they had to restructure the shares to make the nominal value 5p... to eventually allow them to raise funds at 13p.

Strange that the last diultion was at 1p WHEN the share price was at .3p; I did find that strange; you never know LD holders still have HOPE; you can only WISH

Just spoken to a gentleman at HB Corporate. Some news will be coming out within the next two weeks. The delay has been because the company has been in negotiations with various parties and trying to come to an agreement. They are putting the finishing touches to that now.
He coudn't add anymore so maybe good or bad news coming.
