12/8/2008 13:07 | Par12, Playwize the business has a chance... it's existing shareholders do not. Shareholders are last in line, creditors and the tax man are first. PLW has huge debts and no cash pile, therefore the creditors will get any money received from the sale of the business and/or assets. It's game over for PLW investors... but not for Playwize... especially when Foo has got himself a nice few £100k+ over the years to help keep it going as a private company... | ldmachin

12/8/2008 12:54 | "We intend to take advantage of our position in the market and invest heavily in player acquisition," O'Reilly reiterated. "Sign ups are up 30 percent on last year, and we have set a 20 percent growth target for NGR between now and 2010....we are bang in line with that." O'Reilly backed up his comments with impressive figures; Ladbrokes recruited some 237 000 new online gaming customers during the first half of the year, increasing the tempo of UK and European advertising. The key to success lay in retaining the players it had acquired, and this was a priority O'Reilly said. | csilondon
12/8/2008 12:53 | Such sites have been successful in attracting high-rollers from Europe due to the level of player liquidity that they are able to offer, particularly on higher stakes tables popular with US poker players. Ladbrokes' online poker has been offered under a long-term contract with Microgaming, however until now Ladbrokes players have been segregated from the rest of the network, meaning that they could only compete against other Ladbrokes customers. The question for Ladbrokes now is whether they should go further and merge all of their poker players with those of Microgaming. Such a move would result in a 300% increase in peak time cash player liquidity for Ladbrokes, while Microgaming would witness a 50% increase in liquidity. In the pokerscout.com rankings, such a merger would place Microgaming and Ladbrokes at number seven in the world in terms of liquidity versus their current positions of twelfth and nineteenth respectively, placing them ahead of rival Boss Media's IPN network and that of Svenska Spel. The move would also limit the impact of increased competition from Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet who recently announced a merging of players to create the Cereus Poker Network. | csilondon
