25/4/2017 10:22 | Announcement has done nothing for the share price so far | fenners66
25/4/2017 10:21 | They "want" to reduce their senior debt - provided the market accepts it. There has to be a reason why its senior in the first place. But at what cost? | fenners66
25/4/2017 10:00 | When you invest in a financial stock like PHNX, the financing structure is always going to be complicated. Especially so because of regulation. Either you learn the intricacies and spend time doing the reverse engineering and maths, or just have faith that everything is kosher. They are reducing their senior debt to make it more favourable in the regulatory stress test calculations and thereby on a regulatory basis will have more wiggle room for future closed book acquisitions. | boonkoh
25/4/2017 09:54 | Offer to buy £300m of senior notes. At a premium to the market price of 1.5% + accrued interest ? I presume that market price is over par - so this it going to cost how much to buy back 4 years early? Add in transaction costs? Replace with tier 2 ? At a lower coupon? Convince me this makes sense. | fenners66
24/4/2017 10:37 | the divi was 23.9p ! m | maurillac
24/4/2017 10:18 | Thanks. Seems a big drop for ex div though.Agree good time to buy. | 1olddog
23/4/2017 09:58 | Simple they went ex -dividend and dropped a few more pence. Big buys recently from the directors so it should be a good bet for your ISA. | poacher45
22/4/2017 19:21 | Am thinking of putting a few in the ISA ,but would be grateful if anyone can shed light on reason for drop in price in March. I see rights issue back in Nov, so that's not it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. | 1olddog
21/4/2017 17:33 | Well, it looks as if directors have been buying, so that's a good sign. | arf dysg
14/4/2017 08:44 | Morning , I put a chunk of this years ISA money in here ,looks good to me !! | ccr1958
13/4/2017 10:59 | I'm with Wendy on this. Have topped up with another 1000 shares and Phoenix becomes my second biggest single share holding. I think this is one of the 'safer' shares around with a great yield and a real likelihood of capital growth. Cheers, PJ | pj fozzie
11/4/2017 09:13 | Director buy from new non exec Wendy Mayall, appointed late last year. £50k worth, so she must be reasonably confident at this price. "Wendy Mayall has over thirty years’ asset management experience, including as Group Chief Investment Officer and latterly consultant at Liverpool Victoria from 2012 to 2015, having previously been Chief Investment Officer for Unilever’s UK pension fund from 1996 to 2011 and holding management responsibility for Unilever’s pension funds globally. From 2006 to 2009, she was the Chair of the Investment Committee of the Mineworkers Pension Scheme, a British government appointment to one of the largest government backed pension schemes in the UK. Mrs Mayall is the non-executive Senior Independent Director of the Aberdeen UK Tracker Trust plc." | bluemango
07/4/2017 17:24 | Remember today's 725p is 852p in 'old money'. I don't myself feel quite ready below 692p (800p old). EDIT: this is a recent xd price, so adjust to 828p old-style. Perhaps a bit better. | jonwig
07/4/2017 17:06 | Yeah, I couldn't resist a top up at todays price either. | masurenguy
07/4/2017 16:37 | Just topped up again at this price. Too good to miss. | dennisten
07/4/2017 16:14 | I think there could be a smidgen of wishful thinking driving your scenario Pto | schofip
07/4/2017 13:55 | Just bought some back that I sold at 780 | spittingbarrel
07/4/2017 11:11 | The price changes for many reasons; right's issue, dividends, people buying and selling. Someone who uses charting techniques doesn't make a special case for a right's issue. It's just my view - and one possible scenario - only the market will tell us if it is appropriate. I can hold the scenario as a possibility, but it doesn't stop me trading in and out of PHNX. | ptolemy
07/4/2017 10:54 | 725 been attacked repeatedly this morning. I cannie hold her, Capt'n, she's gonnie blow. | eeza
07/4/2017 10:48 | Pto shares go up and down and patterns emerge - but and I know you have already been asked this question - if you factor in the rights issue this does not form the pattern your 550 is based upon. Any number is possible - but at 550 these would yield 9% I'm sure there would be buyers long before | fenners66
07/4/2017 10:44 | Pto, appreciate the view. | essentialinvestor
07/4/2017 10:31 | Worth looking at post 2037 imo. A break of 690 and a fall to 550 is possible. I'd like to see support between here and 716. | ptolemy
07/4/2017 10:27 | Worth adding near £7 ?. | essentialinvestor
06/4/2017 17:18 | Typo for VLG bb I think. | eeza |
