How foolish the West became as it was seduced by The `Chinese Economic Miracle` and its Fetish for cheap trainers, silly T shirts, throwaway Christmas decorations, Pirated Rolex watches, Counterfiet Perfume/ Cosmetics/ Handbags/ Pharmaceuticals/ and Chop Suey .
Why would anyone buy an MG electric car?
The West has gone Bonkers.

After yesterday's deflating news about the Merjan field, i'm standing in the same camp as elmfield. Not expecting anything from these sessions as it looks like to me like a bit of a media excercise to show the east of their loyalty to the BRICS scenario as was posted earlier... but am still hoping that team PET will be given something as they had already said at one point that they didn't need to go through the bidding processes(whatever that meant)....i have no clue but somebody does so will keep holding ...and hoping. That's all we can do as shareholders... Gluck all ;)

It's not clear from the above article if Anz is being competed for today or tomorrow.
It's getting close though.

ZPEC Put in a very strong Bid, higher than was necessary, Based on what exactly??

Perhaps they were very close to Pet? maybe ZPEC used Pet information to justify their Bid?

Just maybe ZPEC have agreed a JV with Pet as a Minority partner, that will only be disclosed when all tender business is finished, if it is a reality. Merely an Observation.

Another one to the Chinese today:

12 May 2024 • 10:11

China's Zhenhua has won a bid to develop Iraq's Abu Khaymah oilfield, measuring a total area of 1,809 square kilometers in Iraq's southern Muthanna province, Iraq's oil minister said on Sunday.

Politics change but geology doesn't.  Therefore we have maintained an Iraqi presence since 1997. We continue to hold an interest in Western Desert Block 6 and Merjan oil-field.This from PETs Web page. I do think they will have to clarify their IRAQ position now going forward as the market will be manipulated either way. investors have a right to know as it salient to the companies future direction

20 Left and Bids were thin on the ground, it would appear, Hence the delay.

So `Horse-Trading` is an absolute certainty. I have read many times on here that PET will succeed on the Basis of, "It is NOT what you know in Iraq, but WHO you know"

Pet are well connected by all accounts.
