You wouldn't believe we're in the middle of a car market boom, would you?

Yes, but it's all relative. The guy who sold £1.9m-worth still holds 34m shares (2.4% of the company) after the deal. More to the point, the accounts show that as at the end of December 2013, there were still around 32m shares allocated under the option schemes, exercisable in coming years. If you look at the presentation of the accounts, Directors' total remuneration is shown as a mix of salary and bonus by way of share options. They just treat it as part of their 'remuneration package'.

Yes, I was surprised that nobody else had picked up on that. However, most of these share awards are treated as a bonus on top of salary and they're given a shedload more for the following year so I'm not sure it's any guidance to the company's prospects.

1893 & 1894,

Agreed. Maybe we'll see an improvement up to the next IMS due in May.

Maybe the news has come out on the wrong day, being the last trading day of the tax year. Market volumes are so low & people selling.
PDG only 85k traded so far today versus an average 750k in the last 3 months.
Let's hope Monday sees some increased buying activity.

SP up this morning, perhaps buoyed by the release of SMMT registration figures for March which have to be great news for the biggest UK dealer group:-
New car registrations biggest month in a decade with
demand for new 14-plate seeing 464824 new car registrations, a rise of 17.7% over last March.
Since move to twice-yearly plate change in 1999, only March 2004 saw higher registrations (466,954).
Year-to-date 2014 registrations up 13.7% on 2013 to 688122 units.
SMMT CEO Commented this as "a surprisingly strong level of growth"

FT highlights Director purchase at Lookers today, Pendragon purchase listed but no specific comment.

I wonder if the sales going on are tax related? taking loss in the current tax year

Turning into a bit of a long dog for me this one. I did not expect to see the share price decline to this level. Nothing negative to impact, so wondering if there's some news due out?

Not much. Some slight dilution but it is in accordance with information already disclosed in the accounts which point out the dilutive effect of share options/incentives granted.

"The calculation of basic, adjusted and diluted earnings per share is based on the following number of shares in issue (millions).

Jeffian, I am also perplexed now as it happens. The whole sector is consistently reporting growth in sales and like for like profits, yet this isn't making progress. In fact, it is retreating. Hmmmm.

This is a very frustrating share. Good results and everything seems set fair in their market, so why the persistent decline? Did they get ahead of themselves at 40p?
