The non exec chairman needs an earful that the price is not good enough. Please all write to him and take to twitter

Us small shareholders rarely win the lottery. Corporate pond life sees to that.Be grateful for the crumbs off the table.

a lot of credibility will be lost by board if they sell the share holders short, but they wont care , just count their money.

Well if If the 'people at the top' are happy and support the deal it will happen. To hell with shareholders.

PAYS has been my first big investment currently making up 25% roughly of my SIPP & ISA. As others, I'm also grateful for all the informative posters and have learnt a lot - up 48% so hoping to be lucky enough to do more of the same. On the news reports - more in today's Monday Times top of the business page - its focusing on how well the people at the top will do from a deal and a bit more about how the last shorter got caught out last week. Nothing really on whether it is a good deal for the shareholders.

like most of you I am disappointed with this development but I doubt that the final offer if any offer will be made is 590
the biggest shareholder has 10% and even if he agree still very far away from shareholder support
this sound more like a ploy to put pays on the map than a true offer

Bwana & Dog, far too kind of you both

... we are well placed in terms of a potential bidding war and I am pretty hopeful we will see a much improved offer - but clearly we are in play

* H1 update on 8th Aug - I suspect we will comfortably beat 10% YOY growth
* 8th also likely to learn more about US acquisition and impact
* Penn update - potential to erode discount due to perception of "gambling" being mainstream
* Buyer out there for Asian gateway - further erosion of discount criteria ( perhaps we will learn at what price) - eitherway this has to now stop being a drag on PE multiples - there is a buyer afterall so it has value !!

A combined bid from Wirecard and Alipay in the next few weeks is a high probability IMHO - they can't really afford to let PAYS go if they have true global ambitions - they need the Wallet functionality.

A tongue in cheek comment perhaps? Anything which suggests a likely near term legalisation of OLG in the US is very welcome right at the moment!

EH 9..... For someone who expounded ( at great length and repeatedly ) on the potential rewards of US online gambling to PAYS I am stunned to hear you say 'who cares' about Pennsylvania gambling

If there is going to be a takeover then the money has to go somewhere in a reasonably safe share/shares. It is a very difficult task to try and find another stock like PAYS.
CLIN,ABCAM,IDEA,XLM and OPTI are the ones that I have looked up so far.
Investment also in that order as well.
I have a fair chunk in PAYS so not the whole lot is going to go into one share.
I think a lot of DYOR time needs to be spent before any investment is made by me.
I think CLIN and XML have already been mentioned here.
It would help if other well informed posters would help to put their views forward re the other shares to invest into.

Dogwilson, thank you for your compliment. I don't contribute or post much on this BB. There are many more posters that have contributed a lot here.
You forgot WOLF he is the best contributor here. I just make up the numbers here.
Thank you all the same.
GLA and ATB.

Pennsylvania really is in a mess.....seems the Speaker of the House wants to run against Governor Wolf and is determined to raise his profile:Senate leaders essentially challenged the Speaker to show he could pass his no-tax plan earlier this week.If Turzai's effort fails, Gov. Tom Wolf, state Senate leaders and House Democrats will have a clearer path to press forward with a plan that relies on an expansion of legal gambling and some new taxes to balance the budget. If the Turzai plan passes, however, the Speaker will have a shot to flip the majority Republican caucus in the state Senate to his plan and, along the way, burnish his reputation as the Legislature's leading defender against tax increases. The first test, however, is a critical vote on the House floor, possibly as early as Sunday, at which the 121-seat Republican majority will be asked to pass the plan with little Democratic support.Turzai's plan will no doubt be welcomed by a variety of interests: * Supporters of the legalization of slots-style video gaming terminals in bars, restaurants and private clubs can get behind Turzai's plan because it would shove all gaming expansion talk to next year. That buys them time to win more support, rather than see the state go in different directions that had the potential to lock them out of the Pennsylvania market for years.* Many of the fiscal conservatives at the heart of the GOP caucus who are always eager to take the alternative to raising taxes.Let's hope common sense prevails!

Dog,
A lot of people will sell at 578p
Even if deal was passed at 590p it will take months to get paid.
The MMs know that some won't wait and will sell early so they always offer less than bid price.
Hopefully another bid will emerge.

Dog deals can fall through and market has only had one day to be gobsmacked by two big announcements. Barclays upgrade should help market come to agreement bid is too low this week and share price can move higher than 590p.

Hi
I'm fairly heavily into PAYS - and have watched this board closely. Thanks all you great posters, EH9/QS99/Malcolm/Bwana/ Rivaldo (I think?) and others - sorry if I've missed anyone. I have learned a lot. I haven't said anything until now as really I have not much to add to the conversation. I agree that the price seems too low and am holding. One question though, can any one tell me how the price can possibly be 578 if the bid price is 590 - which has to be the minimum? If we buy at 578 then, barring disaster we should get minimum 590 shouldn't we? Just like the buy backs gave us a minimum price (was it 400?) a few months back?
Happy days!

Oohrogerpalmer,
I am in the same boat as you.PAYS is my largest holding and I will top up if the share price falls further. How I see things is that we are in the shop window now.
We will have to wait and see what others show their hand.
I feel we could end up in a bidding war, at least I hope so. It would make me very happy to see the BOD reject this bid.I would have liked to see us grow under our own steam. Patience is required now.
This BB has been also very good and I will miss all the good, informative posters.

Pays is by far my biggest holding & im making an extremely huge profit on it, however I would still be gutted if it was taken out at this price.
Am hoping like you that Old Mutual have given the ok to a t/o but not at that price.
Fingers crossed!!

Old mutual being very clever imo. They have not signed any irrevocable undertaking thereby making it clear they support action to improve the share price but are absolutely not agreeing 590p is the correct value.
