How did any canny investor or hedgie also not spot the winding up notice published several days ago! Damn. Never looked at this share but would have been a top retail short all the way down with that crazy valuation until this morning. Bargain Booze #2?

The market is general is quite pessimistic from brexit, this just gives it another reason to dive. The shares are probably going to open sub £3, then I assume will sell off till around £2.20/£2.30. Effectively halving shareholder equity.

who will want to read his newspaper column ? who will want to hire him as a speaker for a business conference ?

Luke Johnson should be well able to provide/procure financial support for the company (and I suspect it will take a lot more than £1 million)

Well I won't be making any accusations of anyone as all the circumstances are not yet clear, but it is consistent with fraud limited to a very small group or even one individual. Much easier to hide if it's just one person especially if they are in a very senior position. Time will tell

More likely scenario is that the tax bill/winding up order will have been sent to one individual who didn't tell anyone for whatever reason - quite plausible the rest of the board didn't know until they started looking in the last day. I imagine they will have forensic accountants crawling all over this and looking under every rock now. It's not a great development as it caps how much time the company has to sort its finances out and so pay it

But also, if you had noticed this it was an absolute gift if you were able to go short! It doesn't look as if any significant short interest has picked up, so it seems to have gone largely unnoticed.
