It's a conditional veto.

This means that the Governor objects to parts of the bill and proposes amendments that would make it acceptable. Assuming the Legislature makes the necessary changes, the bill would go back to Christie's desk with a stronger likelihood of being signed off on.

The above will send a strong signal to other states that are eager to be part of a progressive movement toward online poker.California,Florida and Iowa all have proposed legislation that would regulate online poker and NJ will make easier if passed.

Well done Governor Christie btw.

Lawmakers supporting the bill said they were confident they could tweak the proposal to get it in shape for the governor's signature. "I know we're going to be able to get it done," said state Sen. Raymond Lesniak, a Union County Democrat and prime sponsor of the bill.

If Christie doesn't pass or veto the bill he may choose to refer the bill to federal levels, which would give the federal government time to offer advice, and consider the issues. He could also apply a conditional veto allowing ammendments to be made before he signs it off.If he ignores the bill on the other hand it will automatically become law.
Should the New Jersey online gambling bill be accepted, New Jersey will most likely lead the way for other states to follow.

Maybe he's had a call from the local mafia! Anyone been watching Empire Boardwalk based in Atlantic City? So whose taking bets he has a long dinner and just lets the Bill pass into law at midnight?
