12/7/2006 15:31 | Ticked up 1/2p on my 10000 trade. Could move rapidly with shortage of stock and a few buyers coming in. Possible favourable mention in press tomorrow. | knitcraft
12/7/2006 13:29 | Has anyone taken a look. SP up .75p on no reported trades. Tempted to buy a few as watched for a while and was always concerned by lossmaking sub. Now gone, and feel this could soon move up 5p- 6p as tightly held by chairman. (70 odd % from memory ) | knitcraft
12/7/2006 13:13 | The disposal announced today of the Park Direct Credit loan book to CL Finance Ltd for around 8.0 mln stg in cash. Revenues in the year grew to 233.4 mln stg from 215.1 mln. Park Group declared an unchanged final dividend today of 0.74 pence per share which makes a total payout of 1.1 pence. Chairman Peter Johnson said the Christmas 2006 recruitment campaign was one of the group's most successful to date and it has recruited 32,000 new agents. The current order book for Christmas 2006 is 26 pct higher than at the same date last year. The order book for the Park and Country Christmas business is up 9.1 pct and the group said it expects the acquisition of the Family Hamper agents in February to increase volume and improve capacity utilisation. The corporate voucher business has also made considerable progress and orders continue to exceed that achieved last year. "As a result, we are confident of a satisfactory outcome for the current year," Johnson said. The chairman has looked at takig out the minority shareholders before and it would seem likely to try again now the loss making sub. has been disposed of. Little downside and possible take out price of up to 30p. Seems a good bet to me. IMHO | knitcraft
12/5/2006 20:01 | Results due next month Qalbabbass so we'll know how good a stock it is then, can't be that many stocks like this up 3.5% today though. There was a piece in the FT recently about the company entering the Spanish market with their hampers...lots of Brit ex-pats etc, sounds reasonable enough. | jeff h
12/5/2006 11:35 | I should have buyed some of these when I started this thread but did not have any funds. Still al least I picked a good stock. Q | qalbabbass
20/4/2006 20:40 | I been buying here recently...bags (in more ways than one) of potential. The Family acquisition could be a steal as there must be lots of synergy with Park's existing business. I noticed ads for jobs at Imagine Finance recently so I guess that maybe expanding though next year they hope to benefit from it. Property sales are forecast to bring in millions....and with a juicy Div and takeover talk in the recent past they overall look a decent buy. | jeff h
24/1/2006 14:17 | BIG 50K BUY TODAY BY SOME1 | qalbabbass
13/1/2006 11:56 | If the price hits the 50 day moving average I will buy. For the time being its a little risky. | qalbabbass
21/12/2005 15:15 | This may drop further but I think the price is very cheap. My get in, will post later.!! Q | qalbabbass
21/12/2005 15:10 | This is a rather quiet thread, but I believe there is potential for this stock at these prices. May get in. Might just be talking to myself!! Q | qalbabbass

03/12/2004 10:06 | Not bad results, growth in continuing businesses seem good. Divi up. Chairman says there is interest in his stake but early stages.... | bigfarmer
06/10/2004 09:52 | PKG are difficult to value I agree but then beauty is in the eyes of the beholder! I cant make head or tail of the balance sheet because the of the way the business is structured. But lets look at the headline parameters: -T/o last year of £217m against market cap of circa £49m -margins are dreadful though at around 1.77% -pretax profits came in at £5m -the company has disposed off all the non profit making periphereal operations -the core business is growing fast --customer base is expanding and the company currently has over 100000 customers on their database(from memory) -A bidder in similiar line of business may see scope for increasing revenues through cross selling ooportunities and lifting the margins through restructuring and efficiency improvements. -if he can see margin improvement to say 3.5% he would see an operating profit of £6.6m on a T/O of £220m -the chairman could ask for a price equivalent to say 15x operating profit -that would value the company at just under £100m against current market cap of £49m Now this is all hypothetical but I can see the company going at a significant premium to current share price if not 100%. | nurdin
05/10/2004 18:08 | I thought from recollection that on fundamentals the present share price is already fully valued, unless there is value one cannot see. | guru11
05/10/2004 15:43 | Interest will fire up here when the press pick up the story tomorrow..;o) | nurdin
05/10/2004 15:37 | I remeber IC quoting the chairman saying he would only sell if the offer price was well ahead of the prevailing price (29p then). My guess is not less than 40p..but its only a guess | nurdin
05/10/2004 15:32 | agreed....it does seem to read that way.... but what price do you think an offer would be at?? | abcd1234
05/10/2004 14:52 | I think a deal has already been done..matter of deciding what price a bidder has paid or willing to pay. | nurdin
05/10/2004 14:15 | In case no one has seen todays announcement.. ''The board of Park Group plc ("Park" or the "Company") announces that it has been informed by the Company's Chairman, Mr. Peter Johnson, who is interested in approximately 74% of the ordinary equity, that he is exploring options with regard to his shareholding in the Company. Were this to result in the sale of a large element of his shareholding, this could lead to an offer for the entire issued share capital of Park. AIB Corporate Finance Limited ("AIBCF") has been appointed as financial advisor to Mr. Peter Johnson and the 1989 Peter Johnson Settlement Trust...'' | nurdin
05/10/2004 14:09 | This was bound to happen..and the chairman isnt going to sell cheaply!! | nurdin
24/9/2004 12:59 | No one seems to like this share for some reason.Never mind..I hope to make a decent profit come the results time. Interest rate hikes are very positive for PKG....can expect significant margin improvement as a result of higher levels of interest revenues from cash deposits..now standing at £167m.Insurance products are also doing well and could transform the earnings picture going forward. Wish the chairman would sell some of his holding to Institutions to improve liquidity though | nurdin
21/9/2004 12:10 | Like this bit... ''The corporate voucher business continues to expand with sales up 25 per cent in the current year. The company is also growing its share of the valuable incentive and reward voucher market, lifting turnover by 52 per cent compared with this point last year...'' | nurdin
21/9/2004 12:08 | Excellent statement overall...;o) | nurdin |
