Mister,

Agreed, share price being driven by sentiment rather than fundamentals, paf now with forecast 2017 p/e 5.4, divi 6.9%.

Looks like an opportunity to me.

Interesting to look at the cash resources of other gold miners in Africa. CEY reported cash of $417m in October. That alone, without any borrowing, would be enough to buy PAF at more than its present market cap. CEY expects to produce about 540,000 ounces this year. So at a stroke it could buy PAF and increase its gold production by about 50%. Tempting for CEY?

Hargreaves Lansdown has just replied to my query, and because it is dual listed.PAF is not excempt from SRDT,even though it is listed on AIM.Made a mistake buying early this morning, but long term should be good, also PAF could be taken over by RRS.

Garycook. I am a LTH with PAF and have added recently. You shouldn't be paying stamp duty. I agree with mikkdhu above and would add that the BOD seem to know what they are doing and are also ahead of the curve with labour relations in S.A. As ever DYOR. The good news here is that it is not an explorer. It produces and profitably and mikkdhu ahs also mentioned its expansion into coal as another income source.

Purchased 2 Lots of PAF a 24,000 in my SIPP,and 28,000 in my Fund and Share account with Hargreaves Lansdown, both showing as sells and on ISDX.I had to pay Stamp Duty on the transactions.Surely AIM stocks are Stamp Duty free.

Thanks srp,Also read that somewhere else that Randgold could be a bidder.I will watch and wait for a bottom or a rise up,before buying.Should find a good entry point between now and new year. There is a lot of talk around Gold outperforming again in 2017,and I believe that should be the case.We will see.Good luck to all.

GARYCOOK,

I have set out some of the positives I see in PAF in a number of posts on this thread. There are negatives (eg labour relations in South Africa, which do impact)Here are the positive points that I see:

1. Post 9200: key figures, such as huge amount of gold, low AISC, long life of mines
2. Post 9298: Barberton Mine (over half of PAF's production): very high grade, increasing life of mine.
3. Post 9335: Low overall AISC
4. Posts 9207, 9257: Uitkomst Colliery: opportunistic purchase when coal was cheap, now bringing in cash when POG is low.

Gold has to be very cheap indeed before PAF becomes unprofitable.

Good luck.

I have added at this level but also bought far higher which is painful. The divi will ease the pain a little and long term looks bright.

I've just bought another 25,000.

srp, your strategy of buying for the long-term is spot on. Don't change anything.

Srp,Good article below, "The decision of the US Federal Reserve last night to push interest rates up, and signal that it anticipates three more rate rises next year, is likely to send the dollar higher going into 2017.But Shah takes the view that gold can continue to perform well, as he feels that inflation will rise faster than interest rates. The means the 'real' interest rate in the economy, which is interest rates minus inflation, will remain low, and Shah takes the view that the gold price can continue to perform well in times when real rates are low."HTTP://www.whatinvestment.co.uk/top-analyst-asserts-us-rate-rise-wont-harm-investors-gold-2553114/Dyor.coxsmn

Good post Mikkydhu. In my view as posted above, with PAF it's best to take a longer view.
