You could be right.Just a thought, would such a drop for ex div be a false trigger for some algos?....RSI now oversold.

dave, doubt that will be maintained through the coming cycle but who knows.
I've been too cautious here recently.

If the final div is as last year (10.3p) then yield is 10.5% (on a share price if 397p)

ADFN has the dividend yield as just over 10%. Is that correct?

I keep hearing talks of people taking on second jobs to make ends meet. I can't see this recession causing lots of redundancies. Retail maybe. But travel engineering and specialist recruitment etc is on the rise. Plus page is worldwide not just UK.

yes. That says they are still looking for staff. A lot of sectors are still woefully under staffed.

Since 1992/93 Page has always been a cracking recovery buy if you can
get anywhere near the low point.

In their favour atm is staff shortages putting generating business,
so what price this will be available at less sure on.

A lot depends on how big you think any macro hit will be,
if particularly optimistic then perhaps there is a buy case now.

ThanksHad hoped for a slight uplift in their forecast for the year (to £210m). From memory thought they upped it slightly in Q1 (from £202) and was hoping for the same!. But now being quite cautious IMO. Will sit on hands.

A recession will hit employment. That's the gamble here, so close to buying here but now in two minds - due to their comment posted earlier. Also, read this:HTTPS://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/markets/article-11089607/Britains-firms-lookout-staff-despite-recession-fears.html

wouldn't a recession due to bills and nothing else mean people will want to get back to work or get 2nd jobs? Ie good for page?

Guess a full blown recession won't be good news and this sentence may have fed those concerns:In July, we noted a slight slowing in time to hire in some of our markets, and we continue to closely monitor our forward-looking KPIs.

PageGroup (PAGE) issued a Q2 trading update this morning. Performance set a new record, Group gross profit was £280.9m, +25.5% vs. Q2 2021. The Group deliverd a record month in June, its second month of gross profit in excess of £100m. There was an increase in fee earner headcount of 307 in Q2 to 6,734 (Q1 2022: 6,427). The balance sheet also remains strong with net cash of c. £135m up a little from Q1 2022 c. £122m. Management provided in-line guidance and currently expect 2022 full year operating profit to be in line with company compiled consensus of £205m. This would be a 21% increase on FY21 levels. Valuation is also very attractive, forward PE ratio below 10x, PS under 0.9x. The share price is currently in a correction with the wider market given recession fears and therefore lacks momentum. All else points to a solid BUY...

Looks decent and in-line for this FY, personally I think op profit will be nearer £210m but wtfdik. Still looks like very decent upside potential in share price as trading on forward PE of only 9.6.

Q2 tomorrow should be positive IMO but holding back before buying as current market reactions have been anything but reflective of such results.

Hi all,

My mate Peter @Conkers3 and myself did a ‘Twin Petes Investing’ Podcast recently and part of our discussion includes PAGE and the wider Recruitment sector. This is an unusual episode because for the first time we had a Special Guest on the show and the response has been hugely favourable (here’s a clue: he’s not the usual ‘Guru’ that all Podcasts have).

And as always we chatted about loads of other Stocks and Ideas for research and a fair bit of educational stuff with regards to Investing and Portfolio Management.

Anyway, if you use Youtube, Apple, Audioboom, Overcast or Spotify you can find it under the 'Conkers Corner' Channel (you want Podcast TPI 40) and you can find it on Soundcloud at the link below.

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful, we try to keep them light and they are totally unscripted, not like all the stuffy financial fodder you are probably more used to !!

Happy New Lockdown !! WD
