07/3/2002 21:30 | Tony: Just ask your broker how many MMs are dealing in CDY and which ones are they. | pinkle
07/3/2002 21:24 | Pinkle, have you read my post 138? If so how can I find out who the MM (s) are for CDY? Tony PS Good evening by the way! | tonyx
07/3/2002 21:22 | Yes, I believe the address thing was just an excuse, as when it was posted yesterday it was deleted after 2 minutes if that. It was there temporarily to prove a point that if Winterfloods weren't going to take us seriously and pass our messages onto the Chairman, people could write directly to the Chairman at home, thus making a point, knowing for a fact that Winterfloods were on the BB at the time. OK putting his address up was a bit harsh, but as I said it is on the internet anyway for all to see. The reason behind deleting it was it was not right for the address to be posted for any length of time, it was only there to make a point. So to claim that the reason ADVFN deleted the whole thread was because of that post is ridiculous, especially when it was deleted yesterday and they delete the thread today, it just doesn't ring true. Personally I believe that the reason the thread got deleted was because we started talking about getting paper certificates to make it harder for the MM to short the stock. I think we were getting a bit to close to the bone and they wanted to shut us up. I think it just seems like Winterflood exerted a bit of pressure onto ADVFN. | pinkle
07/3/2002 20:51 | I still don't see why a whole thread had to be removed just because someone posted his home address. I simply don't buy the excuse about not looking through 800 postings. If you don't have the ability to search the threads for keywords then you could have cut n pasted it into Word et voila you can go straight to the post in question. I was going to read back through the thread as I believed it to be interesting and useful in my quest to learn more and more about trading and how the market works. Nice one. | wensleydale
07/3/2002 20:23 | And weren't Winterfloods the MM who were allegedly madly selling Redstone shares just after they had been round the City trying to raise more cash last year. What extraordinary prescience they must have had. Redstone admit they have no cash and are trying to raise some...Winterfloods start selling short. What a happy coincidence! | crabbyman
07/3/2002 20:12 | By coincidence I received a letter today from my broker re my purchase of CDY shares a few weeks ago on the day they announced thier results which pushed the price up approx 100%. It basically says that they "are unable to deliver the certificate because the market counterparty has been unable to deliver this stock to us due to a shortage at this time" Where can I found out who the MM's are for CDY?? Any guesses for WINS?!! Tony | tonyx

07/3/2002 19:05 | Just logged back on to read more posts. On the issue of Brian Winterfloods address being posted, which I would say was only posted for a maximum of 2 minutes yesterday. The address is there on the internet for anyone to see anyway. Another point, has anyone ever tried addressing a letter to the Chairman and getting no reply. Sometimes when a person needs a reply, it's the best course of action. How do we know, maybe he never gets to see any letter sent to his company, but he would read a one sent to his home. Another matter that was raised, about his earnings, is public knowledge, no big deal about it. The post was basically saying that a person earning that amount of money would obviously want to know about a situation within his company as that could effect his future earnings and let's face it we are all concerned about our future earnings, not just him. In no sense was Brian Winterflood blamed for the situation himself, he would not have even known what was going on, we simply gave him an opportunity to look into it, thereby protecting his interest in the company and his reputation. I still think it is a shame that he did not bother to reply to peoples emails. These people were all nice to him, they were just asking for help with a situation, how he felt threatened by that I will never understand. | pinkle
07/3/2002 19:00 | Take a look at the gol chart. Wins were pushing the price up but as soon as they had to declare they held 12% they started dropping the price. In fact they dropped the bid 30 seconds after the rns was released. Not exactly ethical. | ducatiman
07/3/2002 18:51 | M+C that doesnt excuse the lies youve told on the BB. And the often incorrect info inf that you feed the threads with. | max power
07/3/2002 18:50 | Phil. We like to champion the private investor. As does Brian Winterflood, who has attended the last 4 or 5 ADVFN London 'get togethers,' where he has met many of our users. ADVFN'ers have raised a few thousand pounds for some of the charities he tirelessly works for. It is objectionable to me to have a threat on this BB posting his home address and calling for him to be harassed. So I deleted it. You can of course extend a conspiracy from there, but actually that’s all there is to it. On you point about city folk on BBs. The City do read our boards as it gives them an insight into the minds of the private investor but I don’t believe much more than that goes on. On general posting issues, we try to leave the BB as untrammeled as possible but there are times when we have to step in and draw a line. On the house 'always winning,' I think yes and no. The market maker is meant to make money, so he is meant to win, but MMs are only the house if you are gambling. If you are gambling you will lose, that’s assured by the mathematics of investment. However if you invest wisely you should make a profit and then the MM is purely a wholesaler of goods. If you want to make the stock market a casino, losing is the price you pay. | clem
07/3/2002 18:46 | Primose It always makes me chuckle when people write on about other posters knowingly posting false information on BBs. The companies we invest in often do exactly the same thing only they post them in their Interim results, Final results and Trading updates. LOL LOL LOL. | mercier et camier
07/3/2002 18:28 | I didnt read the offending (alledged) thread, but did someone suggest asking for your certificates? That would have worried the MM no end....... | max power |
