This is interesting to read from Ratesetter (who i invest with as well as holding P2P in my SIPP for the tax benefits of the SIPP).

P2P Global Investments relationship with peer 2 peer platforms

- Relationships with Zopa, Ratesetter and Funding Circle confirmed

- P2PGI commences deployment of capital

Following the successful listing of P2PGI plc (the Trust) on Friday 30th May,
the manager of the Trust is pleased to confirm its contractual arrangements
with Zopa, Rate Setter and Funding Circle, the leading peer 2 peer consumer
platforms in the world, have been initiated. The Trust has now commenced
deployment of capital and purchased loans with the above platforms in line
with its investment strategy.

The contractual relationships with these platforms were contingent on the
listing of the Trust being successful and other such relationships are already
in place with Crossflow, an invoice financing platform, and, via the Eaglewood
Income Fund, Lending Club of the US.

On a premium of c.20% GLIF -the only other I.T. that is even vaguely similar- is even more expensive.

Analyst,

I was really meaning that the current large gap between low-risk yields and this would narrow as base rates rise, making this generally less attractive on a medium-term basis.

If base rates rise, P2P (like individual Zopa etc members) will get higher rates on the money that the borrowers repay as it is immediately re-lent. It's not really like a long-term bond, more like a short-term gilt fund but with higher rates.
