19/5/2006 11:23 | Dire share performance - I have said before, ORCA's product will become a mere commodity and well be given away free - like Windows. There is no future in this company imo. | britishbear
19/5/2006 09:51 | Do not know the reason for the fall, but maybe this as its competition in their markets? | ericthecat
16/5/2006 13:47 | anybody interested may want to read these ? | ericthecat
15/5/2006 20:16 | 15.05.06 A consortium of Israeli companies are teaming up to develop the next generation of video service, assisted by the Israeli government. The Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Industry and Trade has agreed to help financing the infrastructure project of next-generation video service. The project will cost $20 million over three to four years, according to estimates, and the ministry will foot 66% of the financing. The companies will pay the rest. The companies in question include Comverse, Optibase, Scopus , Orca of the Emblaze group, Bitband, and SintecMedia Software Systems. Chief scientist Eli Opper commented that at the end, the consortium members will have created hardware and software that serves as a generic platform for a personal TV environment, to be used by the masses. | colinhy
15/5/2006 18:42 | hmmmmm........... and does it have any link to this?........ | ericthecat
14/5/2006 20:14 | I expect some news this week, there are a couple more partner on ORCAs site one very interesting one. | ericthecat
05/5/2006 10:58 | Microsoft have BT sown up in the UK but are miles behind OCRA in terms of product development. A shame that ORCA can not exploit this lead as it will not take them long to catch up. My problem is that the product will become commoditised and will be given away free by Microsoft at some point. There is simply no future in this product. I will stick to BLZ and KIB as my Eli shares but will keep an eye on Orca. | britishbear
05/5/2006 08:51 | will they get any of this? If microsoft will generate this can orca get a small slice? Microsoft TV is poised to generate $500 million or more by 2010, according to a research report issued Tuesday by Sanford C. Bernstein analyst Charlie Di Bona. | ericthecat
02/5/2006 15:41 | Hmmmmm, ORCA will succeed its a question of how successfully. For alittle company like ORCA to be even in the same ball park as Microsoft is an achievement! This is Microsoft current list, but as you can see most are still at the trial stage. ORCA has trials with 17 or 18 telcos so isn't doing badly. https://www.microsof Now, ORCA will get a share and has another tier 1 customer in the bag (my guess is its Telefonica ) The fact that Lucent and Orca are already engaged together at several customers might make it so, at least in the near term. Glick says his company, with Lucent, has won one IPTV deployment at an unannounced Tier 1 carrier and is engaged in trials with several other telcos. "On the forefront I'm sure Microsoft will still play a big role, but there are clearly accounts where Orca has done pretty well," says Heavy Reading analyst Rick Thompson. (See Orca Demos IPTV Software.) Thompson says Orca may play a stepsister role to Microsoft at the new Alcatel/Lucent. "I'm sure they can continue to use them if they need to, but I can't imagine that they would be too loud about it from a marketing perspective." As I said ORCA will survive through their Redback and Lucent clients and gain second place behind microsoft. | ericthecat
02/5/2006 13:36 | Eric - I think the problem is that May becomes June then the year draws to an end with no major deals... like last year the Georgia thing... who cares??? Probably don't even have decent phone lines out there... Look at what happened in India where we have had no news at all and in Taiwan... All is very worrying... And there is a huge credibility gap so even after good news the stock price will go up and then drift down... so plenty of opportunity to buy after the news in my view... but we will have to wait and see... Slapper | slapdash
28/4/2006 14:09 | ORCA will always struggle to beat Microsoft as they have the clout to undercut anybody, but ORCA will get second spot through the tie ups with Redback and Lucent ect... Yes, I will be buying more it is a good price news will come. | ericthecat
28/4/2006 13:04 | Eric, now that share price is down to 40p are you confident enough in ORCA verses Microsoft to buy more ? | blinddarts
27/4/2006 09:50 | Here is the pdf | ericthecat
26/4/2006 22:31 | It was well worth a listen, Very bullish indeed, fantastic results. Great Q1 results and predicting 10% increase in Q2! Smartedge/iptv triple play is driving themselves forward. They are suppling China Telecom, China Netcom, KT, BellSouth and Chunghwa to name but a few. These are the ones to watch for ORCA. This is taken from their brouchure release Jan this year! It states ORCA and Kessenna are Redbacks premiere partners! It is a PDF so does not copy. Market: IPTV Service providers have come to realize that a single IP basednetwork infrastructure can be effectively used to deliver all voice, video, and data services, often referred to as the triple play. Theconvergence of services onto a common IP infrastructure is attractivefrom an operating and capital expenditures perspective. A range ofvideo services, including Broadcast IPTV, Video-on-Demand andVideo conferencing are supported by the Redback infrastructure. The SmartEdge platform provides exceptional reliability, highperformance multicast and QoS capability for video traffic transportand routing. In addition, Redback's partnership with leading IPTVmiddleware platforms enables service providers to deliver apersonalized per subscriber experience for IPTV.Redback Partnership with Kasenna & OrcaRedback has partnered with Kasenna and Orcato enable the flexible deployment of next-genvideo services, with enhanced quality of serviceto ensure a high quality end-user experience | ericthecat
26/4/2006 17:27 | Redback results and conference call tonight, might be worth a listen. They are promoting an event in May that makes triple play a lot easier, may get some clue to what that is? | ericthecat
26/4/2006 11:18 | Cheers cyberdyme, I wondered whether that was the case. With the share price being fairly near the net cash levels I hoped for a bigger spike up, as it is, the only thing that has gone up is the offer. Ho hum .......... LS | lumpsucker
26/4/2006 11:15 | Hello lumpsucker, I very good price you got there. My guess is that it is a small deal with a 2nd tier carrier which will not generate that much revenue. No numbers have been released so again the revenue will be low? ORCA has had problems turning deals into cash. Chunghwa should have been many millions but to date has sold 40k! Also look to india where 2 deals were announced but little or no revenue! ORCA is a great buy at these levels I sadly bought in at 60p so more to go for me, but will add more soon. I would like to see some deals through their network partners.ORCA are still number 2 in the world and there are a lot more deals to go at. | ericthecat
26/4/2006 11:07 | lumpsucker, The rise was a few days ago, as news always leaks.. | cyberdyme
26/4/2006 10:41 | Hello Eric, I'm a newbie to this share having bought in at 42p a couple of weeks ago. I would have thought news such as this was a price mover (northerly I hope). Could you let me have your thoughts on why there has been no interest subsequent to this regulatory RNS ? Cheers LS | lumpsucker
26/4/2006 10:22 | hmmmmmm.....I wish we could hear from Chunghwa about some more licenses. | ericthecat
