05/11/2003 11:53 | Interesting. Reads to me more like they're looking for a placing to raise funds rather than an RTO. There are some things I like - the directors are paying themselves minimal salaries which bodes well for their integrity (low salaries should be a given when there is no real business. Sadly, they're not) The market cap is below NAV according to ADVFN, with a large cash component. And the director buy last month was encouraging. On the down side, the people in charge are the same ones that lost the 14M in the first place. Since they look set on becoming an investment business, they will succeed or fail entirely on the basis of the shrewdness of these people. | stewjames | |
05/11/2003 11:27 | LONDON (AFX) - Optimisa PLC, which narrowed its first half loss, said it plans to enlarge its resources and utilise the substantial tax losses of over 14 mln stg. In a statement, chairman Ron Littleboy said: "It is apparent to the directors, that many of these investment opportunities are not progressing due to the limited cash resources of the company. "It is therefore the intention of the board to enlarge the resources of the company as soon as the suitable opportunity arises which will allow the company to increase the number of available opportunities and the potential to utilise our tax losses." The directors, in conjunction with the company's advisers, have been reviewing a number of options for the future, and are particularly keen to utilise the substantial tax losses of over 14 mln stg available to it. In the six months to June, the company reported a loss of 10,000 stg compared with a loss of 25,000 the year before. As at June 30, the company retained a cash balance of 449,000 stg, together with quoted and unquoted investments of 367,000. The net asset position of the company stood at 792,000 stg compared with 189,000 June 30, 2002.
