This looks very positive to successfully test the next resistance, 485 (2002). Onwards and upwards to look at 500!

The sudden move just now is beginning to make the breakout look very convincing.

Bought in 3 weeks ago. Nice to see a few people registering an interest here. Fancied these to do well around DEC/JAN.

Good luck all

Yep. Ditched STHR yesterday. Got room for a few more of these if the breakout holds.

Norkom maybe? A strange wee beastie. (NORK)

Volume exists about once a month - on a Tuesday.
I know absolutely nothing about it - it just amuses me ;o)

MTG - Good to have you here. I wish I'd stayed long CART as long as you have.
Anything else I should be looking at ?

Yep. I opened a token March upbet 11am today (it was cheaper 5 minutes later!) and expect to add if/when it pulls clear of 440p. But that'll make me a bit overweight in this recruitment/training sector (CART,OPD,STHR)

Been hovering around since the interims trying to get on board. Hate the wide spread on SETS. Finally managed today, 'tho I note that my 4000 buy is shown as a sell on ADVFN! Wish I'd got on board earlier....incredibly dozy on my part......had them on my watchlist as PSD. (Doh! Wondered why they hadn't moved for months!). Still fair value at this level IMHO and scope for some good gains. I rode them from 330 to 1200+ in 1999/2000 so you can understand I have a soft spot for them!

Regards, Ian

Or it could be due to the fact that it is a very well run company that is outperforming its competition, whilst trading at a significant valuation discount.

Probably a good explanation of recent strength, typo, and another nice move today. Despite its market cap of £117m at 443p (which should guarantee entry into the SmallCap, if it holds) this does seem to be very illiquid. If tracker funds are forced to buy 10% of the stock, they could send it through the roof.

At this level OPD is a strong candidate to join the FTSE SmallCap index in the December annual review, which means tracker funds may be looking to buy.

Some basic Net research.... sorry if it's old hat but it may be of interest to some recently on board:

One recruiter that has particularly caught my eye though is OPD Group (LSE: OPD). It is valued at 10 times earnings, which is below the industry average of around a P/E of 15. In September, OPD said profits grew at all four of its divisions namely Hoggett Bowers, Odgers, Portfolio and PSD.

In common with many recruiters OPD, which is valued at £100m, suffered as the job market shrank after the millennium. However, its turnover has risen steadily since 2003 and profits have followed suit. Revenues this year are expected to come in at £102m, rising to £114m in 2007. A pre-tax profit of £12m has been pencilled in for this year and is expected to improve to £15m in 2007, which puts the company on a P/E of 10.

Of course, a big question for recruitment companies is when will the good times end. Rising unemployment can be caused by a myriad of reasons. These include structural changes within an industry, cyclical factors and also when improved technology replaces human labour. As such there are no hard and fast rules, but as I see it, a collapse of the employment market may be some way off.
