Posted at 10/7/2024 08:26 by yump I changed my mind about TCAT and think its ok to be spending on it. Omip isn’t big enough to be an income stock - its not secure enough for me to put a large sum in to get income - too risky compared to some of the large FTSE stocks. Especially when you consider the valuation issues and tricky market forces prsent in music royalties.I bought as a growth stock and it kind of morphed into something else. So for me, it makes sense to use the steady income to invest in something that might turn it into a proper growth stock. In fact that’s not a bad model when you consider the other options of placings or debt that other small floated businesses go through. Same goes for all small stocks trying to please investors with dividends. The UK needs growth stocks like never before. |
Posted at 09/7/2024 18:12 by yump Perhaps investors think that OMIP is just not big enough to be developing what appears to be a ground-breaking bit of tech. and to promote it into a serious SaaS earner.I thought it was supposed to be being used by significant labels ages ago but it took years to find out what its earnings were and they were small. It does seem over the years that its like a small personal business, where it feels great to be running it and be in touch with the industry and being positive about it, but where the reality is that its pretty insignificant. |
Posted at 29/4/2024 19:21 by the shuffle man Thankfully they are a top broker !!A top broker has upgraded its forecasts for One Media IP, the group that owns the intellectual property rights to songs by artists such as Take That, Gloria Gaynor and Louis Armstrong, saying it is the last UK listed way for investors to get exposure to music royalties.Broker Cavendish Capital Markets has upgraded its full year forecasts for digital music rights buyer One Media IP, which today posted a five per cent increase in total revenue to £5.4m in 2023, driven by growth in royalty revenue.Cavendish said it has raised guidance for adjusted diluted earnings per share by 46 per cent to 0.24p, due to One Media's efficiency efforts, including its plan to reduce spend on its anti-piracy software TCAT that has been eaten into profit. It also raised pre-tax and post-tax profit forecasts by 40 per cent to £0.8m and 43 per cent to £0.6m, respectivel |
Posted at 10/11/2023 09:04 by yump Just looking back to interims:£182K said to come from TCAT trials. (Lets ignore the usual quote of the % increase over previous year as thats a silly comparison - sadly seen in so many RNS’s when in the startup stage - do they think investors are stupid ?). “ Continued growth and expansion of TCAT client base, with internationally recognised songwriters, two majors and several independents among those now either trialling or licensing TCAT's software” So does that mean some clients are licensing rather than trialling ? In which case I’d like to know whether the licences are fixed £ annually or related to something else. ie. What capacity is there for them to expand ? At the time of the recent appointments to the TCAT team, the “impact of TCAT on the industry” was mentioned. I don’t think 180K is an impact on the industry. Very tired of words. Next update crucial imo. I want to see this “impact” explained in money and particularly what “potentialR Because if two majors and several independents have only generated £182K, where’s the potential coming from ? |
Posted at 31/5/2023 09:05 by clocktower All just trivial waffle from the company as there is no talk of contracts or even clients for TCAT but money is being soaked up to try to turn the fortunes of this around, as I believe much of the content the company invested in is sliding in value, hence the way the share price has gone.I suspect they just wanted to suck in a few more investors and help support the share price DYOR |
Posted at 03/2/2023 18:57 by pugugly yump - All your note covers very critical points points for a potential investor and until the company clarifies I will be sitting on the side. I trust that you get clear answers to the points you raise. Also having just had a look at their web site going no further as flagged NOT SECURE. Why no have https. Potential red flag but I am not sufficient internet savvy to determine the risk - Thoughts - advice? |
Posted at 03/2/2023 18:19 by yump Quite frankly, its about bloody time MI told investors what sort of contract values have been obtained for TCAT. There doesn't need to be any disclosure of confidential information.I remember that TCAT was supposedly being used by some major labels years ago. So what revenues were generated ? If they're going to invest quite a bit in it, what are the prospects. Sick of all the talk and its been going on for a long time. Not interested in the music industry being in good shape, I want to know wtf is expected for TCAT and what contract values are currently contracted. Am I invested in some sort of experimental and interesting startup, that will save artists and labels a lot of money, in return for a nice percentage, or something that is just generating a few quid. In which case I would like it to be known that I love music, but I'm not a charity for hard up musicians. I mean, crikey, I have investments in a few renewables businesses that haven't even put a shovel in the ground yet, but they have at least some agreements and MOU's with other businesses, to take output. Given that TCAT has been around a long time, is the problem that it is chasing a moving target of sneaky illegal publishing ? Why mention it years ago, if it was just a bit of software on someone's laptop ? |
Posted at 16/12/2022 14:04 by clocktower Poor company communication with investors does it no favours. |
Posted at 08/12/2022 15:04 by yump At the moment the business hasn’t got a very long record of either generous dividend growth or earnings growth to make it either a safe income stock, or an exciting growth stock. It may just be that as a thinly traded small stock, it needs both of those for a couple of years to get any attention, for instance from micro funds interested in small company income opportunities. Small growth stocks are all viewed as risky at the moment, even if they’re not, so a rush of new investors might only take place when some publicity about both income and capital growth gets into the limelight. A widely used TCAT with associated publicity might galvanize it. At least it would be a USP. Investment in podcasts took off over covid. Anti-piracy software should surely get some interest at some point. |
Posted at 08/12/2022 11:35 by spin doctor Merck Mercuriadis features in a 5 minute piece on R4 Today programme, 7.20-7.25am today, on iPlayer:Interviewer summarises - final few words - as 'streaming doing well but investors unconvinced'! OMIP rights purchasing has been far more selective and disciplined than SONG, IMHO. |
