too hot overseas....dream of a cool English summer...

might be fine for a week doing water sports....but walking on a pavement or doing any physical movement...and its tough going any faster than a snails pace !
...look at the long term effect of heat on the Asians !.....9 stone is maybe the average mans weight....and only 5 ft. 4 tall

Weir is. Flollowed the company for years and has a solid management team. Should benfit from fracking too. More oil services rather than exploration / producer. ie safer bet imo

Too hot? I take it you're not referring to the English summer!

Only into Xcite energy Smithie. But looking to exit at some point and concentrate on larger companies with less risk associated. Keep an eye on GKP though. If they win the court case you can get an easy trade there.

Do you live in the south East?

Weir I know a bit....doing OK from what I recall...
Xcite.....been share price roller coaster there....painful if you are on the wrong side of it with much money...

I have dabbled in Coastal Energy....but got out since didnt seem to be happening..now back to where it was..and had a punt with GKP or was it Forum , made 30-50% in few days...but then sold out at small loss later I think...

once made a few quid with Siberia oil

unless you work in the sector..and understand the jargon and seismic graphs !..for the oil discovery company shares ..it seems largely random imo for investing which puts me off apart from an occasional minor amount for a dabble...

looks like you are a bit of an oil/gas man !
you know anything about the sector ?....most lance corporals would avoid oil sector I think !

I was in at 360 smithy. Was recommended by a friend who believes the company is going through a period of expansion.

I am also in Weir group, RBS and Xcite energy. RBS is a short term trade, mind.

copy of previous post....in case of interest to anyone..

"BTW according to my calcs. for each 1 share in WESP costing 55p you get 47p of shares in NBI

and 48p of shares in other stuff....like, CRE, SWL, blue chips fund.....

so...for 8p you get 48p of other stuff

looks like a cheap deal to me

(partly cheap imo since WESP have a poor track record over last 15-20 years....will it always be poor ? or is it hitting a better patch ??
...-ve factors include that controlled by LFI...and that is controlled by 1 family, includes LFI Chairman)

...(key factor of course is whether the other stuff then goes up in value, stays the same....or goes down..)"

Well I trimmed a fifth of my overall holding in NBI at the end of last week and have taken profits close to 200% which I am very happy about, although I am equally happy to hang onto the remainder long term. First bit of profit taking I have done this week alongside trimming some ATK which I sold at 11.94 after a really strong run this year and again in excess of 100% return.

Otherwise I remain fully invested and note an article on citywire this w/e quoting that the BoE are suggesting interest rates may remain low for the next 4 years so this will only add more fuel to the fire in respect to moving into stocks from cash.

Obvious need in these markets to be wary nonetheless.

Good luck to all.

s6 speed is not important overall return is the key. THere were many selling FIF at 50pish look at it now. btw i see you post on the negative FIF board, surprising as marshall is here too!

fwiw you can't trust any BOD, and i usually look at the emoluments and options before i invest but it's not easy to determine whether the bod has shareholder interests at heart or not.

You mentione CRE i just bought in there but didn't do my usual due diligence and only realised later that don elgie and his cronies have been very liberal with their emoluments and options.

This kind of approach does deter investors i've no doubt.

Your fast moving investment approach reminds me of the story of the old bull and the young bull in the field over looking the next field with a full herd.

The yound bull says let's race down there and shag one of those heifers. To which the old bull replies lets stroll down there and shag 'em all.

all the oldies are the best.

What other shares are you into at present ?
and how long have you been in NBI
(your posting name only appeared recently for 1st time)
------

the mkt. mood is of course a fickle thing.....sometimes the mkt. clamours to buy...
...othertimes there is some item of bad news....and the mkt. clamours to sell and shorters can pop out.......

well it's beginning to defy gravity and i think it's looking top heavy now. For the share price to maintain this position the outlook statement at H1 will need to be pretty damn good. Still i remain invested so we'll see. I thought it was about right a while ago but you can never predict mr market.

i'd guess at 34p eps this year so per of 12.34 not demanding for growth but historically high. It's hard to predict without the outlook statement.
I think i recall recently Agrekko slowing but perhaps not a fair comparison due to size.

DLokk forecast eps 31.4

All indicators showing way overbought at present

in at 240p top sliced some at 270p and hoping for double up to 480p on the major part of my holding

I agree on the buy on rumour sell on fact mentality. More akin to oil shares I think.

A good steady, expanding, incoming generating company like this should push on. Providing results impress.

I dont know how new or not you are to shares....

in the city I think there is a saying that it is often better to travel than to arrive
....often when expected good news or results is released...the price falls....

..as holders think...."and what now"....and if there is no news to say that next results will be even better...then the share price can fall as people take their money and look for a new share whose fortunes are improving.....and if share price falls..it can trigger other sellers...

and NBI can now be shorted I think....."Nurdin" went long...often the reverse choice is also provided/offerred...

be interesting to see...

Well done btw to the dirs. esp. the execs. and the chairman...and the managers/workers.

I guess the FD will have wished he bt. some !....he does have some options though

The MD and chairman have seen their investment multiply in value since the co. started at 100p/share....so they have some reward as well as the shareholders.

fair/good and excellent figures...

I pencilled some gestimations a week or 2 ago I think...

clearly for renting out kit....if your rental occupancy is 0% then you make a big loss due to fixed costs
but if 100% is rented out...then you could do well....

I dont know what they will achieve !

important thing is medium/long term.....even though the mkt never thinks that !
mkt often thinks bad results are a one off and can be ignored...while good results will go on forever and get better ! (and kicked if doesnt work out that way...SDL, KFX, IDOX.....et al)
-----

maybe rental contracts have been extended in time...or new ones...ensuring a good H2 and hence the years results...

must admit I am a bit stunned by the price rise today....and increase from 370 to 420p

the size of the buys....and that some trades have been very close to 08.00 over past days...makes me wonder if someone knows something

today and recently it has been hit a number of times with buys of 4k pnds and 6k pnds....imo that is not PIs doing their usual 500-1000 pnd trades

the % of trades of value over 3k pnds....imo ...is high...

I see the strength of the RSI as traders anticipating bumper 1h results with increasing revenue and a decent forward looking statement in terms of orders and recent acquisitions turning in a profit. The recent trading statement has increased sentiment here.

Smithy, what would you consider fair / good / excellent 1h year figures?

All the best,

Lance
