06/1/2009 17:05 | Big trade a rollover, still a few more interesting days here before all is revealed. | wardy3
06/1/2009 16:44 | Days and not weeks:- Published: December 27 2008 02:00 | Last updated: December 27 2008 02:00 'More than 10 potential bidders have expressed interest in New Star, the troubled fund management group that this month agreed a debt-for-equity swap with its banks. The banks, a consortium of HBOS, Lloyds TSB, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland and National Australia Bank, which put the group up for sale this month, hope to receive bids by the first week in January'. | treacle28
06/1/2009 16:42 | Got in at 2.7p. Fingers crossed for a flurry of bids over the coming weeks. | induna123
06/1/2009 16:35 | Good close, 2.69-2.70p. Should break the 2.75p sticking point in the morning with the large buyer quite possibly finished. | treacle28
06/1/2009 16:23 | 100K buyer just got a few more at 2.62p. | treacle28
06/1/2009 16:21 | DUET still up and down like a yo you, large buyer possibly not finished yet. | treacle28
06/1/2009 16:11 | Nope. If that happens then it will come back at 50p. "We support the management's restructuring proposal, which we believe will add value in the next 12 to 24 months, but if an offer is made in the meantime, we will consider it." 'Even on most conservative basis, the think the minimum current value of New Star is around 20p per share but more realistically between 40-50p plus it has the ability to shed costs.' | treacle28
06/1/2009 16:10 | It has been noted that NSAM may be delisted, thats my concern. That would effectively give holders nothing. | seabass
06/1/2009 16:10 | Potential Bidders:- 'In such circumstances potential bidders will I think start to be attracted to the firm, leading potentially to a sale in short order. Aberdeen chief executive Martin Gilbert ruled out a wholesale purchase this week of New Star but only because of its debt, with this resolved he may well be interested again. Simliarly Hendersons could spot an opportunity. Citywire also revealed yesterday that Neptune Investment Management is actively looking at acquiring some of the funds and assets. I would personally not rule out a purchase by other protagonists in financial services M&A. Resolution boss Clive Cowdery is on the hunt for assets again and his old adversary Hugh Osmond has access to plenty of capital at Pearl to boost his presence in the retail fund management arena'. | treacle28
06/1/2009 16:09 | It's simple, if they can clear all large sellers then the price will move up, you have the risk when holding while news is due, no guarentees you see that it will be good but there's hundreds of penny stocks out there with overhangs and they all have the same scenario, clear the seller and the price will jump, now and again the odd one does like Tmc today but most stay depressed for a while, Vgm has been hammered with buying lately but the seller is simply massive so the price is stuck for now. | 8trader
06/1/2009 16:08 | knowing, just my assumption that they would not try to take on too many things at once.. | sportbilly1976
06/1/2009 16:07 | sport not sure that it may have halted as I think there was an article saying if the right opportunity arose they would consider. | knowing
06/1/2009 16:06 | ohsodit, there is a good chance that they will receive a bid very soon. there was quite a bit of press attention on these, and rumoured to be up to 10 bidders for them. Aberdeen Asset Mgmt were one of them, but their Credit Suisse acquisition over the new year may well have halted that.... downside risk - 2.7p, upside >>>2.7p | sportbilly1976
06/1/2009 16:04 | A genuine view of these please | ohsod1t
06/1/2009 16:02 | Treacle, I made a profit on SRB thank you very much. no bitterness there... | sportbilly1976
06/1/2009 16:02 | Let's not argue....let's make money | knowing
06/1/2009 16:02 | So you guys, other than treacle still think it's worth hanging in here then... | ohsod1t
06/1/2009 16:01 | Sport...go and plz check your posts on SRB...looks like panicked out and now bitter. | treacle28
06/1/2009 16:00 | O dear looks like hate trader has no funds to buy some...over 3p in the morning looks a dead cert. | ohsod1t
06/1/2009 16:00 | LOL!!!! Whatever - I've been posting b*ll*cks for the past few days and now its exposed as such, I've given up on it. I invested here for a bid at >8p....but over the past few days I was patient to let the seller get cleared with the buys, in a similar way to UEN previously and VGM currently. We all look to make money.....but a touch of realism of what is actually happening in the market always helps. | sportbilly1976
06/1/2009 15:59 | Have a read of this treacle, remember my old handle day_dreamer :-)) It might help you learn instead of lie all the time ! | 8trader
06/1/2009 15:57 | Whatever. Don't forget the bigger picture that a bid of 11p could be on its way. | treacle28
06/1/2009 15:56 | treacle - please read up on laws of supply and demand. big buy - there must be lots of sells to be offset for the price to remain static, otherwise the price would have risen. Once a big buyer is filled, unless there is another one to take up the stock, the price ususally falls. big sell - the opposite (and what we have seen here recently), and a few weeks ago on UEN | sportbilly1976
06/1/2009 15:56 | Well that would be terrible news, what you want is a seller cleared not a big buyer finishing, when a buy order gets filled the price falls and when a seller is cleared the price soars, we saw that in Uen. You are posting so much you dont even know what you are talking about treacle. You get lost in that jungle of lies you post day in day out. | 8trader
06/1/2009 15:55 | Big buyer has nearly finished now buying their stake. | treacle28 |
