27/9/2007 15:48 | 'Eight other WTO members, including the European Union, Australia and Japan, are now lining up to claim compensation from the United States over online gaming. "The EU is almost licking its chops," says Antigua's lawyer Mendel. "In total, this could come to $100 billion in sanctions. " Giant American bricks-and-mortar casinos like Harrah's and MGM are making plans to move into the online sector as soon as the U.S. trade stance becomes clear. They could get a sign as early as this week. Sept. 22 is the first WTO deadline for America to cut a deal with Antigua and the other nations. But one WTO insider predicts that the only announcement on that day will be that the deadline has been extended. "This won't happen fast; America is going to dig its heels in," says Sallie James, trade-policy analyst at Washington's Cato Institute. "But if I had to bet, I would say that by this time next year America will have changed its laws." And in this case, that means all bets will be on.' | realism

27/9/2007 09:33 | Homeboy i still have no idea why Neteller caved in to the US feds, that has never been explained. Its not as if they got off lightly by co-operating, the fine was way out of the proprtion of the profits made since the act was passed. | dan1man
26/9/2007 19:59 | I tried to ask this on the prty bb. Neteller disobeyed the UIGEA and the DOJ caught up with them and clobbered them. Why have they not done so with other online payment depositors? Online poker is still huge in US as you all know. Please enlighten me! | homeboy35
26/9/2007 19:33 | Well done. Yes, we need more evidence of positive restructuring to shake all these shorters out and then we'll be motoring up | hitchinhoncho
26/9/2007 14:21 | This is all rather boring at the moment, seem to be stuck in the doldrums. I guess as soon as we see some kind of confirmation of growth rates, we'll be heading towards £2. Ps did my bit yesterday btw, switched my payment method to Neteller on my William Hill casino account! | dan1man

23/9/2007 05:18 | Online gambling in China to increase by 130% by 2010, to 19.5 billion dollars. Nice | mlangton1
21/9/2007 20:53 | Newsweek has published an article about Antigua's spat with the US at the WTO over on-line casinos. Apparently they have put the US in a difficult position. If the US do not comply and legalise it is likely that the WTO will sanction Antigua to sell cheap copies of US IP like Windows/MSOffice etc under similar conditions to the EU/Equador squabble over bananas. Hope for us yet. | aspex
