Another interesting private company exploring the seafloor.
My interest is in Odyssey Marine where I have a holding.
They have a 40% holding in Dorado as well as their other exploring activities.

yes, nice profit smarn. My holding in these is so small that trading them is pointless, so looking to add on price weakness. I welcome any point of view with regards to short term price movements.....

Probably a bit of profit taking, and who could blame anyone!. that spike up in the share price was never sustainable, and good luck to all who have taken a bit of profit. question is at what level will these settle and my guess is they could drop to 1.80 hopefully at most, but if it goes further then 1.40 would be the lowest level. I am, and will continue to be a holder, and any sign of weakness i will be looking to top up

Excellent finds re deep sea stuff. Japanese news particularly good because it means they also think it can be done.

I must confess to taking profits. 50% in 9 days....market cap of 348.5m.

I will buy back on any dip and if I've made a mistake I will buy back higher.

Someone yesterday said something about a bid by a major but if they have the resource they think they have AND they can get it up then I don't think any major will be able to afford to buy it.

Watching closely.

More very good finds andrbea.

If PNG go for a fully paid 30% then we know what they think of the project. If successful then it will make a big difference to their citizens' lives. PNG has a population of 6.6 m as of 2009 I see by Googling so profit per capita will be substantial.

If successful, Nautilus will become a trophy company invited by other governments with similar deposits to joint venture with them.

photos of the sea floor mining machines:

same article ends with:

The sea floor area to be mined in this first stage of Solwara 1 is small, but with 18 other identified locations across the Bismarck Sea, Nautilus has a huge potential upside if it can bring this first project to a commercial success.

goood comments paxman

I feel that the efforts by the Japanese to mine around their island (at depths of up to 2000m) will help convince laymen that this technology can work.

signing of the deal should give a new pulse of interest:

Jemima Garrett reports on Petromin's venture

The Papua New Guinea government will take its full 30 per cent stake in a venture that hopes to be the first in the world to mine the sea flooor.

Mining Minister John Pundari has , says the PNG government will use its wholly owned commercial entity, Petromin, to take its maximum 30% stake in the sea floor mining project being developed by Canadian company, Nautilus Minerals.

Radio Australia's Jemima Garrett reports that PNG will contribute $US103 million over a four-year period, with an initial investment of $27 million.

Mr Pundari says PNG will also take a full 30% stake in the patents on new mining technology.

He says Petromin will be able to meet the 30 day deadline to sign the deal.

Well spotted. Very interesting article.

My take on the whole PNG 30% option and partner negotiations is that Nautilus will now conclude a deal quite soon with a partner. The PNG government is totally committed so a partner should not fear any political risk. The PNG government should farm out their 30% interest for a free carry e.g. you have 15% in return for carrying our remaining 15%. That way they will avoid risking the PNG people's money on what is a venture capital investment.

A partner should be of deep pocket. If Solway 1 works they should buy another couple of mining units so they can exploit a number of deposits at a time.

From your article it seems so many big mining companies will bid for Nautilus if they begin to mine successfully.
