Hi Dave...

I was a techie myself (software and hardware) during the 90's, but the Y2K bug got fixed, and the Dot Com boom went bust, so I found myself surplus to requirements. Never been able to get back in due to most development now going down the Intranet/Extranet/Internet route and I CBAd spending another few thousand trying to keep up-to-date with the technology. Anyway, I thought I was talking to a fellow techie.

Back to NUS... The fact they felt it necessary to do a presentation on Monday may be the reason that the price spiked. Though I'd say there will probably be a steady climb from here until Oct. BUT as I've said before, the mood in the City, is that there will be a big pull-back in the major indices then.

So if you still have profits, it might be wise to take some more off the table.

Me, I'm in AIM stocks that have already been battered down for various reasons, so I hope, there won't be too much downside from here. Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

W.

dcom= Distributed COMponent model days? Dave? 1999?

Sorry, no. However the Dave bit is correct.

Wish I sold a few more now! Long term I will probably buy them back because I do like the story.

dcom... (Ex-techie? from the Distributed COMponent model days? Dave? 1999?)

Wise move I guess, the price has fallen quite sharply to around 140. so if you sold at the top, (150+) then you can pat yourself on the back...:¬))

I think these could be worth a longer term punt. I downloaded their project document from the web-site a few days ago, and started reading it. It's over 200pages long so don't expect any meaningful knowledge anytime soon...

The idea of mineral sands sounds on the face of it, quite lucrative, and as a trader's share, it sounds FAB. BUT, given the location, and the seismic activity in the area, it is fairly exposed to uncalculable risk. (Who predicted the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004, or Krakatoa which apparently used to be BIG in the region prior to it blowing its top off in 1883 - when approximately 21 cubic kilometres of rock was made into an ash cloud and dumped unceremoniously on the neighbourhood. (Of course most investors won't know that little fact)

Yesterday I decided to take a bit off the table at 161p. NUS has had a good run and I couldn't see too much upside from there. Considering it was below 100p only about a fortnight ago, I thought it was a wise precaution.

My timing is normally awful so I expect it will now double. That's OK, because I still kept most.

C$2.62 = £1.68, so we're pretty close.

Doesn't apply to CDIs. It's a foreign stock basically.

At least that's my understanding.

Don't have to do that in Canada, and the shares here are just CDIs.

HI Matty...Ahoy there...

That's a nice figure to have stashed away in the bank...

The rises are impressive too...

I don't suppose there are any figures as to, production capability, resources, reserves, cap-ex expected, cost of equipment/insurance, whether the operation can cope with a Tsunami, or how much the port operations would cost to get up and running are there?

Without having access to this info (which would be nice in the header if Grupo is listening) no-one can really determine whether the operation is likely to be profitable, and at what price points?

On the face of it, it sounds very interesting, and I suppose if you're a T.A specialist, it doesn't really matter a jot. As the News gets pawed over the inevitable private investors will pile in. Trouble is they are just as likely to pile out again if troubled waters (no pun intended) appear.

The chart looks a bit alarming but if you go back to Feb 2007 it's much less so. This surge could be seen as a reasonable recovery of lost value.

I wonder if they will still be here in 3months when the proverbial hits the fan, and the world's stock markets take a nose-dive?

Yes, since there is $190m in the bank. NUS survived the first GFC intact, albeit with a much reduced share price like everybody else.

I wonder if this could be the answer to global warming...All that ice melting just fills up the holes at the bottom of the oceans where the ore has been dug out... ;¬)

Perhaps we could pile the leftover rubble/sands on the shorelines around low-lying Islands too... I bet we could even charge for the stuff... "Give us some money or we let your island drown."

No seriously... ;¬)

I got a first inkling about this on Thursday last week... Apparently there is a fairly big presentation taking place today(In the US.), so lots of people have obviosly read the e-mail, done their homework and piled in for a quick buck or three...

I wonder if they will still be here in 3months when the proverbial hits the fan, and the world's stock markets take a nose-dive?

In Event Horizon, worldforallpeopleorg gave us the skinny on Mining copper & gold under the Deep Blue Sea: "If one stands back and looks at the ways of the world, deep water seabed mining is an unstoppable series of events on our horizon. Planning and technologies have been under development and heavily invested in for a long time. A Canadian/multinational company Nautilus Minerals is well ahead of what China is planning, ready to go in Papua New Guinea. And the inevitability of seabed mining can be seen in its own literature: Nautilus Minerals estimates in a September 2009 corporate presentation that 'thousands of underwater sulphide systems exist,' and 'if only half of underwater systems are geographically viable, seafloor production would represent several billion tons of copper per annum.

Looks like it might be a big volume day over in Canuckistan. There are 999s on both sides of the order book, with the uncrossing price currently at $2.53

Here is Stock Gumshoe's take on "Gold Sands".

In my youth I worked at a holiday camp called the Golden Sands. Or as it was more usually known, the Swollen Glans. I had to wear tights and dress up as an elf once for some reason which now escapes me.

Sorry :-)
