Well predicted brando69, although it's like shooting fish in a barrel predicting shares which are falling this week!! Anyone with a large position either way at the moment must have balls of steel - my portfolio is 80% cash and likely to stay that way for a little while longer....

Having said that, I may not be able to resist another nibble of MYH if they get back to 17p, especially with guaranteed news on 30th June....the pattern at the moment seems to be for small co. shares to leap on (almost) any news as the hot money goes in, and then drift once the volume dries up. Seen it with BLNX, EEL, MYH (twice), RXP ...... the list goes on and on!!

Frustrating for long termers, but easy money for the short term traders!!

I see Chipsaway held an open day yesterday:

Were they in the booth next to PHAT TONY's wife?

She runs an open day once a month in Greenock, I'm told.

Roll out in Greece seems to be going well:

ChipsAway Greece - continues to fly the franchising flag!

May 2008

CHIPSAWAY International the world leader in automotive paint repairs, continues to roll out its market-beating brand with the expansion of their franchise operation in Greece.

Developed originally in the USA, the ChipsAway International SMART repair system enables high quality repairs to minor bumps, scuffs and scratches on paintwork to be made quickly and cost-effectively. There is a huge demand for the service as the company's UK experience has shown.

Theodore Sarantaris, the Greek master franchisee who has been in operation since 2003, was looking for a lucrative investment opportunity, and identified ChipsAway as the perfect business prospect, with superb potential for development and substantial return. "I was impressed by the people, the technology and the business concept," he says. "A few years in and I already have a strong network of 20 units with my most recent signing in Athens."

Theo's team originally received extensive training in the UK, where the ChipsAway franchise has been established and immensely successful for nearly 15 years with over 370 franchisees now in operation.

Following a recent visit to ChipsAway Greece, Chief Executive Lloyd Evans, reports. "ChipsAway has consistently expanded since its introduction into the UK in 1994. It is a highly successful, market-dominating brand thanks to its unique technology, systems and training programmes. By selecting experienced, ambitious international partners, we have seen our winning formula replicated and developed again and again globally."

Currently, ChipsAway operates successfully in 15 countries worldwide, and is rapidly increasing.

They also had an open day in Scotland:

Scottish ChipsAway Open Day

June 2008

To celebrate Scottish Franchising Week (June 9th-15th) ChipsAway International, which will be exhibiting at the British Franchise Exhibition in Glasgow, is holding a free, informal Open Day at the Crowne Plaza, Congress Road in Glasgow on Sunday 15th June from 10am.

Visitors will be able to see a demonstration of the famous ChipsAway SMART repair and will have the opportunity to chat to the senior management team and to established ChipsAway franchisee Jim Hughes, who recently signed for a second 5 year term.

ChipsAway pioneered the concept of SMART repairs and introduced it to the UK almost fourteen years ago. The unique technology, which is safe and easy to use, enables franchisees to make invisible repairs to minor car paintwork damage, quickly and cost-effectively restoring vehicles to a commercial standard in a matter of hours.

The ChipsAway SMART repair service has made the company number one in the marketplace, which is estimated to be worth a massive £5.5bn.

For further details about the Open Day please contact us on 0800 731 6914.

GSands - this company competes for investors cash like any other... look at Cambrian mining... assets of say 450-500p and stock listing of about 310p... that is a no brainer... especially as it has coal related assets...

This on the other hand is a risk... I prefer Cambrian for the moment... especially as Myhome, despite all its protestations, will be hit by the massive consumer downturn gathering pace....

This was the company my friend used to fix his car. Similar offering to Chipsaway. Apparently the owner of the company (this one was based in Poole) was very busy and picking up a lot of work:

I think we should see £1 again over the next couple of years, i.e. eps in 2010 7p with a PE of 15. very possible with the growth in profits and expansion of the franchise network.

Slapdash,

The value here is so apparent that I find myself unable to understand your assessment of the risk/reward here.

Do you want opportunity to be spoon fed to you? Because if that's what your waiting for it will never happen.

GSands - most huge mistakes in the stockmarket are made by investors who "don't want to miss out"... it is those who are patient and wait for the easy wins who do well.... I may miss out here but so what... if I can't find answers to the questions to my satisfaction then I will look for opportunities where I can... those excitable investors who don't want to miss out all too often buy on tips and end up holding a load of junk that should, they hope, "turnaround" at some point............. but more often than not doesn't as it is junk...
