MINSTER PHARMACEUTICALS PLC

("Minster" or "the Company")
Positive Tonabersat Migraine Study Findings

Minster Pharmaceuticals plc (AIM: MPM), the drug development company specialising in neurological and psychiatric disorders, today updates the market on its recent Phase IIa clinical trial of tonabersat in the prophylactic treatment of migraine.

The trial results show evidence that tonabersat is effective in the preventive treatment of migraine. In this trial, responders were individuals who experienced a 50% or greater reduction in migraine attack frequency relative to baseline. Responder rates for month three of the study were 62% in the tonabersat group and 45% in the placebo group (p=0.05). At the same time days when "rescue medication" (such as painkillers, Imigran etc) were needed were reduced by 60% for the tonabersat group and 34% for placebo (p= 0.02).

Overall, tonabersat was generally superior to placebo in a range of further outcome measures though these differences did not achieve statistical significance in this trial. The data indicate that the benefits of tonabersat relative to placebo continued to increase in the final month of the study. There were few significant adverse events and tonabersat was well tolerated.

Principal Investigator, Peter Goadsby, MD, PhD, DSc, Professor of Neurology at the Institute of Neurology, University College, London and Director of the Headache Group at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, said: "This early study indicates that tonabersat is a very promising preventive treatment for migraine. I recommend fully-powered studies to explore the benefits of higher doses and longer treatment periods."

Richard B. Lipton, MD, Professor of Neurology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, and Past President of the American Headache Society, said: "If the results of this positive study are confirmed, tonabersat could become the first preventive agent specifically designed to treat migraine headaches. The drug was developed as a gap junction blocker which prevents spreading depression in experimental models postulated to identify drugs that prevent migraine."

Paul Sharpe MD, Chief Executive Officer of Minster Pharmaceuticals, commented: "The results of this trial support our expectations that tonabersat will prove to be a significant advance in the management of migraine, a common condition which is often very disruptive of the daily lives of sufferers, many of them young people. The good tolerability of tonabersat seen in this trial contrasts with other treatments for prevention of migraine and will enable us to study the effects of higher and potentially more effective doses in future studies. We shall now be exploring partnering opportunities and other options for taking tonabersat through to market."

Can anyone actually talk in a civil manner on this thread ? All I need to know is why has been rising, all be it modestly, over the last few days ?
I have a smallish holding, any answers would be appreciated. Oh, and incase of sarcasm, answers like because we have more buys than sells won't do. ;-)

Naz It is a new requirement that Company's have to disclose this information - I believe by 31/12/06 deadline. Other than meeting this requirement, it has no special significance to MPM.
