They didn’t say digital will break even this year, they said it would reach break even during the year.

If that were linear during the year then losses would halve this year and then profits from month one next year.

Digital isn't a loss, it's investment and future growth

What widening digital loss ?

Its the same loss on less customers and less revenue.

Customer reduction was partly due to covid.

What will it look like with customer increase (flagged in results) ? And what will group eps look like.

Thats the key question.

I literally said I may buy back, surely it's implied that I'd rather it was at a lower price than my sell price? If I was going to buy back higher I wouldn't sell, I made no effort to hide that.Combination of the widening digital loss as well as markets being toppy. My concern is they push back the breakeven date for digital as they have done in the past, they are forecasting going from 10m loss to breakeven in a year which seems optimistic to me.

once sell off gone, this will step back in business. May be too much dividend that scares people away.

Its the investment in stuff for the future that causes a problem for many investors.

The heights of irony really.

I have no idea why a reaction from a few punters on results day a few hours in, is of any interest to an investor, as long as the outlook is promising.

Clearly the current year is going to deliver earnings that will only have Morses on a p/e around 10, without anything in for digital figures improving.

MCL could be right place, right time wrt to others leaving the space.

What an odd arbitrary reason to sell recentlyThe digital division has been pulling down profits for the last 18 months - why sell now Sounds more like classic advfn sell and hope to get back in cheaper Why not just say that

Complaints has a liability built into balance sheet now for 2m, if that's the total amount then not much of a problem. I sold out recently on the strength because the digital division is continuously pulling down the rest of the business and I wasn't sure how folks would react on results day. May buy back in as long term I think cash generation could be very good. The dividend is very attractive at these levels, c5% for the year, but unless they turn this digital division profitable soon I think other investors may lose faith. Maybe just also feeling markets are a bit toppy so happy to bank some profits from buys last year.

Bloody brilliant set of results given the Covid environment, but most importantly some really good forward guidance.

Customer satisfaction first and foremost has increased and impairment is down to a record low! As always, MCL focus on quality over quantity and their loan book/assets almost match the current market cap!

Outlook clearly guarded regarding h1 which is understandable with recent Covid lockdowns, whilst the outlook is clearly positive with HCC continuing to do the heavy lifting whilst digital commentary is really pleasing and perhaps the most positive since takeover, brilliant stuff. It's pleasing to see acknowledgment of claim management companies and MCL are compliant in investigating all claims (I refer back to my previous commentary which surmises even a tenfold increase in successful claims wouldn't materially affect profitability!).

Great to see confirmation of reduced competition and MCL are really leading the pack as they are way ahead of competition in going digital with reduced office space, but perhaps more importantly the digitalisation of the business. Covid has forced their hand and the business has jumped forward at least 5 years in the last 12 months, it's a fabulous place to be.

As always I'm clearly bullish and stick by my £1.50 share price target as a minimum. My longer term narrative including inflation and tough times ahead is more prevalent than ever which really opens up all sorts of opportunities for MCL.

Best of luck to everyone.

What’s this going to open at then?? Double the consensus, a 2p dividend, less competition, robust demand - might they be brave and add a penny!

Yes Ron would have liked to have seen some detail and quantum though. The RNS is a little bland on an important area which as we know has really hurt other businesses

No mention of complaints from what I can see. They must have been impacted to some degree but would have expected some comment either way

The comment on noticeable increase in cmc claims is tempered by the proportionally lower than rivals bit Will only refer to the claims numbers on the Fos website already
