The problem is that 60 - 80 percent of PIs won't vote

Is everyone here intending to vote against the offer the board has recommended? If I've understood correctly it needs 75% approval to pass. If a lot of PI vote than it could be enough to make a difference.

That text in my last post was a quote from the Iceland boss. I personally think the exec seem too keen to accept a low bid, they might have expected further bidding but it's not guaranteed and they do stand to cash in either way, their banker advisors also might have incentives to accept any deal. If this bid goes to a vote and gets rejected there might be further haggling but if we end up keeping our shares I don't think we can keep the exec.

htTps://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/article-9815849/Business-secretary-Kwasi-Kwarteng-backs-6-3bn-takeover-Morrisons.html 'Generally private equity investment in retail businesses that were once public are designed to strip assets out and increase profits before the business is flipped. 'Morrisons is asset-rich because it was a family-owned business and it has been undervalued. 'I do not think foreign investors are coming to Britain because it is a great place for investment – I think it is because they want to make money. The board should be rejecting the offer. They have turned over and had their tummies tickled too early.'

"Investment are you mad. They will sell all the land assets the company has then lease them back, they will take out Billions in bonuses and dividends and leave the company a mere shell of itself on the brink of bankruptcy." Remember Debenhams.. Kwarteng gets it wrong on Morrisons: Private equity thrives on cutting jobs not creating them, says ALEX BRUMMER https://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/comment/article-9815527/ALEX-BRUMMER-Kwarteng-gets-wrong-Morrisons.html

Doubt anything is imminent as volumes only average today. The hedge funds have not jumped into this one with any vigour. Reportedly they believe the risk/reward ratio is not good enough?

Apollo haven't entirely ruled out a bid, they reserve the right to bid if Fortress pull out and Morries exec allow them to bid.

Asset manager Apollo Global Management on Tuesday said it has decided against making an offer for Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC. The potential for a bidding war over the supermarket chain subsided as New York-based Apollo Global Management, which had been looking at a possible proposal, said it is now in preliminary discussions with Fortress Investment Group regarding its recommended offer for the FTSE 250 grocer. Apollo has ruled out making a standalone offer. Apollo said its latest talks “may result in funds managed or advised by Apollo forming part of the investment group led by Fortress for the purposes of the Fortress offer”.

Apollo probably think that going in with fortress is the best way to get a foot in the door to facilitate asset stripping at a later date.
