More potential freebie stock for the boys. Anyone know the trigger for these free shares?I'm not expecting a response btw as it's normally hidden in the extremely small print but I'm sure eps leverage features.spud

Have another order in at 185p seeing as I may have pulled the trigger a little prematurely on my last bundle. spud

MONY now trading at 6 month low, the dip from 199p down 13p is ex div, a little overdone. See what they are next week, look good put some into 2022/3 ISA.

Is it possible that price comparison sites might do well during a recession as more people will need to start comparing to find cheaper prices?
Or does it not work like that?
Anyone know?

MONY now trading at its 2014 price.
It now has a 6% dividend and a big cash pile.
Probably a good entry point.

But if it gets back to £3.60 that would also be kind of neat.

I'll be more happy-ish if it gets substantially over £3.00

anhar: I believe in the theory of sector switching (sectors rise then "suddenly" institutions switch to different sectors leaving small investors high and dry).

I think MONY's turn is about now and Commodities might have had their go. Just a theory.

Anyway, divi is good, and tourism is set to grow (alongside second-hand car insurance premiums).

I don't see that at all. Of their five divisions, Travel, which was down 32% on 20, represented only 1.3% of revenue for 21 so even a good recovery there to the 20 level won't make much difference to total revenue. I think your relying on a tourist boom to drive up the price is misplaced cos even if you are right, it's too small a part of their income to have the sort of dramatic effect you seek.

That doesn't mean the price won't rise well in the future as you hope but if it does it is very unlikely to be due to increased tourism, far more likely to improvements in their four other much larger divisions. Anyway good luck with MONY, although it's very early days I'm happy with my switch to RIO for increased income.

I think the dividend and potential Tourist Boom is going to drive this up (eventually) to £2.50, £3.00 ? Perhaps higher.

It has a 6% dividend yield. Not many companies have that in FTSE250 FTSE100.
Tourism is rising again (quite fast apparently).

I think this is a great little tourist boom trade, that gives a big dividend.

I feel it's a miracle money didn't slump today. I expect only a way down south in the coming weeks.

Well it's happened far sooner than I anticipated. As a result of a rise in the price of MONY and a chunky fall in the price of RIO today, I was persuaded to sell all the former and buy the latter, adding to the existing holding of RIO in my port. I made a large loss on MONY but feel better for dumping it as I was not pleased with the results.

As RIO has a higher yield than MONY, the trade increases port total income which is what I try and achieve when I make a (rare) sell. I only hold shares at all for the divis.

These results are not encouraging imo. It's not disastrous as they maintained the divi which is my reason for investing, but it's down on most key indicators. I now see it as a jam tomorrow stock and I'm not a particular fan of JT stocks as too often, tomorrow never comes.

I'll prob hold for the time being for a current yield of 6.1% at 192p though I'm showing about a 30% loss on cost, the yield being much lower on my purchase price. It looked good when I bought but those major acqs like Quidco were what started worrying me about MONY as I've said before. These accounts have more or less confrmed my concerns.

It's now on the dumpable list of my widely diversified income port, should a good opportunity arise such as a big price increase dropping the yield, or an alternative share that I prefer.

Will we ever see a recover from energy?
I am concerned by the highly competitive nature of the insurance sector. How strong will be the moat of Moneysupermarket against the competitors?

OK set of results. Energy zero revenue going to be a big drag this year (as 2021 still saw like 50-70% of normal energy revenues). But other sectors recovering like travel.Think its OK value for now, given the deflation of tech valuations ongoing.

Figures appear to be better than expected by the early market (probably the forward statement looks good and the dividend)

Dividend 6%
PE 18

And its a tech stock

Figures as expected, think a lot of this is already priced in….but who knows with this fickle market

With interest rate rises, income from savings should improve over the year plus travel should improve considerably
