20/11/2008 20:45 | Rumours abound about redundancies at MP. Does anyone have any news???? | tracking
18/11/2008 11:37 | Why should MPS worry you ? Results shortly will be the same as last year and the company should be in a net cash position on a rating of about twice earnings. I lose no sleep over that especially as there was an attempted bid at a price of many multiples of the current price just a few months ago. | davidosh
18/11/2008 09:23 | agreed.... not sure what will happen to the SPs once the action starts to happen. Those involved in the consumer market are more lilely to be hit than those in the business market. TFC and MPS worry me. | sdavis
18/11/2008 09:12 | I totally agree that consolidation must happen and there are tens of unlisted players in the market too no doubt. | davidosh
18/11/2008 09:06 | My view is that any large contract would be announced. They have not announced them so I fear that they may not happen. MPS is short of cash and the loss of any hoped for large contract could be a real blow. Industry consolidation surely around the corner: who will be the first to move? | sdavis
12/11/2008 23:23 | I think that if there was anything significant then MP would announce it! | tracking
12/11/2008 22:54 | Do they need to be announced ? Only if substantial and likely to affect the forecasts surely. MP do not normally announce individual contracts or are you suggesting they have been cancelled ? | davidosh
12/11/2008 21:03 | The fulfilment of certain large contracts was delayed until the new financial year and, with this in mind, the Board reiterates its confidence in the future growth of the business............ | sdavis
12/11/2008 18:53 | No real concerns other than as you say 'rumour'. The comment regarding the effect of leases etc were any of the big names to fall, is simply that prospects may think twice before committing to a long lease and so this may impact on the industry. Just my thoughts. | tracking
12/11/2008 18:03 | I think rumours and false messages will often be sent out by competitors to try and weaken their pitch and steal business. I am certainly not aware of any problems and the company would not have been restructuring the balance sheet in order to pay a dividend if there was no prospect of ever paying one ! What do you mean by 'the impact regarding leases and commitment from customers will i am sure have an effect.' I still think consolidation in the sector simply has to happen and there must be some poorly funded outfits struggling. MP had an update on trading in September btw.... The Board of Minorplanet Systems plc, the developer and provider of Vehicle Management Information (VMI), announces that, despite toughening market conditions, its results for the year ended 31 August 2008 are expected to be in line with the previous year. The fulfilment of certain large contracts was delayed until the new financial year and, with this in mind, the Board reiterates its confidence in the future growth of the business. Does not sound that bad and certainly nothing to suggest a 60% fall in the share price | davidosh
12/11/2008 16:46 | MP has been mentioned more than once over the years as being close to collapse and have managed to pull through. The same message is being received now by the industry and although i have not seen it i am told that a profit warning has been issued. Lets hope for all of our sakes that they survive as if not the impact regarding leases and commitment from customers will i am sure have an effect. Good luck | tracking
12/11/2008 08:41 | For goodness sake, take a look at the interim balance sheet and the RNS about current trading. They had NEGATIVE net current assets at the interim (-£300,000) and very few tangible assets. The RNS about the year end figures mentioned new contracts had been delayed to the new financial year....... and we have heard nothing about them. So, MPS may need new capital injetion to keep going if these new contracts have not been signed. Hence the decline in the share price until these contracts are announced. And if they are not announced...... could they be the first to go? That is what the share price is telling us. | sdavis
11/11/2008 22:15 | Davidosh; you might want to look at Eagle-i (EIT), up over 100% in the last few days. Big recent contract wins with Axa and Homeserve (£4.5m) and tipped in last week's financial press. Worth a look, potential turnaround. | pachnes
11/11/2008 10:50 | The company has already stated in the trading update that it will match last years profits and result. There was a bid attempt earlier this year at 40p that was rejected. Now the shares trade at 11p on a p/e of 2 and still no buyers. Has the market gone mad or is it just me ? The company are likely to pay a dividend soon too.. Any thoughts ? | davidosh
14/8/2008 17:54 | davidosh, Theres been no RNS so far this year re earnings forecast on MPS, (last July MPS issued a profit warning) i take it from that MPS will reach there full years forecast said to be around the £2m mark Year ending is Aug 29th, was a big trade today and maybe news could have broken the result are far better than expected. I,ll be watching very close to buy back in R2 | roofer2
13/8/2008 21:23 | David he has. It is a real event for EIT to win anything. They now have more customers than fingers to count them on. They are capped at 7.5 million and making a very unhealthy loss, but when a couple of people hold 95% of the stock crazy caps can hold firm. | lucky punter
12/8/2008 12:00 | Was it stolen from MPS in particular or do you need to flag it up on nine company boards and many non listed company blogs ? | davidosh
12/8/2008 11:53 | Erm....A competitor wins a big contract. | cheshiremoggie
12/8/2008 10:42 | Pachnes.....What is the relevance there please ? | davidosh

17/7/2008 12:33 | MPS need to be hanging on to every penny at the moment, the notion of paying a dividend even peppercorn is just barmy. The company is stalling on the sales front especially in the UK and need to do something fast or they will go under. | lucky punter
10/7/2008 13:04 | RNS Number : 7724Y Minorplanet Systems plc 10 July 2008 Minorplanet Systems plc ("Minorplanet" or the "Company") Confirmation of Capital Reduction The Company announces today that the cancellation of the Company's share premium account ("Capital Reduction") has become effective following the issue of a certificate of registration ("Certificate") by the Registrar of Companies. The Certificate was issued following a hearing on 9 July 2008 before the Companies Court whereupon the Registrar of the Court issued an order confirming the Capital Reduction. The Capital Reduction was submitted to the Companies Court for its confirmation following shareholder approval by special resolution at an Extraordinary General Meeting on 17 June 2008. The rationale for the Capital Reduction is to put the Company in a position to be able to distribute profit by way of dividend should the Board consider it appropriate to do so in the future. | oblique |
