25/4/2008 09:40 | If the MP offering is fairly standard compared to others and possibly dated then could it be that they just have good sales guys or better selling techniques or even longer term contracts that are giving them sufficient sales in this market. They have not flagged up any decline and they would need to update the market if not going to meet expectation ? | davidosh
25/4/2008 08:57 | I did see Globallive at the show and from what i am told there expertise is in managing the 'Large' Fleets. Dont know pricing but i believe it is higher than standard Vanilla tracking companies and having downloaded their software (From the website) it does look like a very quick system. Mostly still come across the likes of Navman and tomtom in my area, dont see MP and have lost to Globallive but again this was on a large fleet. Reagrding MP their product is just not any good compared to most others out there - It appears fairly standard. Tracking. anyone else know anything about them? | tracking
25/4/2008 07:27 | Cybit and O2 had a stand at the CV show. It looked very impressive and was extremely busy. The new Cybit, Canbus and digitach product is one stage further, it wont be long before the truck can be driven from the cafe. I did not see the MPS stand although it was a big show. Lots of innovative new companies were there pushing telematics we beyond the reach of the vanilla trackers. | lucky punter
24/4/2008 18:56 | Who are Global Live and how good is their product compared to MPS ? Any of you guys know how current sales or the CV show stand performed ? Any useful info to share ?? | davidosh
24/4/2008 18:03 | I don't know why you thought that Tracking. ;o) Word has it that some of the ex-MPS guys (especially sales) now work for Global Live. They had a stand at the commercial vehicle show just like MPS and a few of them seemed to be there. No love lost I understand. Bless. | andre
23/4/2008 19:29 | I thought that was a reputation they were just managing to lose! | tracking
23/4/2008 17:37 | The Yell guy might be the first smart move in ages. If you know anything about their sales methods you will understand agressive, sales at all costs techniques. Should fit right in. | andre
21/4/2008 15:46 | I see the new 'Sales Director' has a a great knowledge of the industry so should really 'hit the ground running' (EX Yell.com) - Coupled with MPs fabulous 'voice' innovation at last weeks CV show this does make you wonder if they have idea of what is required in this market. You must wonder if they have any real plan to make a difference. | tracking
14/4/2008 05:55 | It depends what comes out of Italy with cobra. The rest of the world for MPS has been very flat. Hardly any new business, if MPS have not sacked half their workforce they will go down like a stone, if they have they will go down like a stone next year. The simple fact is that MPS are not competitive in the marketplace. others are expanding at a moderate pace organically or leaping ahead through acquisition whilst MPS slowly die. | lucky punter
13/4/2008 16:43 | I would be amazed at that profit! | tracking

08/4/2008 00:14 | Blimey a hat eating competition....sound What is it that Guy Ratcliffe cannot see and has depressed the Share price then ?? Are you suggesting the revenue target of £27m is not possible due to a slowdown ? | davidosh
07/4/2008 16:33 | Erm no. If they hit those numbers then I will eat LP's hat. So he's got no worries. You'll never know until the end of this year anyway. Would you really hold a company like this in the current climate? | andre
05/4/2008 10:07 | Mr Guy Ratcliffe been on another spending spree i see,550000 shares got them for a touch over 18p p/s Year Ending 31-Aug-08 Forecast Revenue £27m Pre-tax £2.2M EPS 6.50p P/E 2.8 guess you can see why he is buying | roofer2
21/3/2008 09:34 | Commons expenses 'chaotic' Derek Conway Scotland Yard has ruled out an investigation into Tory MP Derek Conway, blaming the chaotic state of Commons expenses. The Old Bexley and Sidcup MP was severely reprimanded by Commons authorities in January following allegations that he paid his two sons tens of thousands of pounds from the public purse despite them having done little apparent work. He was suspended from Westminster for ten days, and ordered to pay back £13,000. Mr Conway has since been stripped of the Tory party Whip, and announced he will be standing down at the next general election - although he will still draw his £60,000 salary until then. Last month Met Commissioner Sir Ian Blair suggested that he backed a police probe into Mr Conway's actions, insisting that police would not 'ignore the situation'. But that has now been ruled out, with the Met saying prosecutors have advised them that the 'lack of systems' in Parliament would 'severely undermine the viability of any criminal investigation'. A statement released late on Thursday said: 'The allegations have already been investigated by the Parliamentary Commissioner and then put before the Parliamentary Committee on Standards and Privileges who recommended sanctions that were imposed by the House. 'The CPS advised us today that they are of the view that the lack of systems in this case to account for MP's expenses would severely undermine the viability of any criminal investigation leading to a prosecution. 'In these circumstances we do not believe that it is appropriate for a police investigation to be instigated.' The Commons Standards and Privileges Committee said it could find no evidence that Freddie Conway had done any work whatsoever in the job, despite receiving more than £45,000 from staffing allowances over four years. Mr Conway also faces the prospect of a fresh sleaze inquiry into similar complaints made about payments to his other son, Henry. Duncan Borrowman, the prospective Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate who wrote to police urging them to investigate Mr Conway, said he was 'disappointed' with the decision. 'One of the reasons I referred it to the police is because they have the powers to investigate whether (the sons) did the work,' he said. 'I don't know how the CPS have come to this conclusion because it's far simpler than scrutinising the whole expenses system.' Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg added that the Met's criticism demonstrates that allowances were 'in desperate need of reform'. 'The public have the right to expect that their money is being properly accounted for,' he said. 'The Speaker's review of expenses must provide the basis for fundamental changes to the system of MPs' allowances.' Frank Field, former Labour minister, has described Mr Conway's actions as 'embezzlement' and questioned why he is allowed to continue sitting in the Commons. However, the MP has denied being a 'crook', and insisted Freddie worked from home stuffing envelopes and checking emails rather than working at the Houses of Parliament. The office of Commons Speaker Michael Martin said they would not be commenting because the case was a police matter, but stressed that an urgent review was under way into the level of MPs' expenses and the systems for scrutinising them. | mercury12
18/3/2008 18:22 | MPS must have some residual value and it may be more than the cap but these are tough times. The cobra partnership in France and Italy would certainly be of interest to Cybit and could be worth more than the current capitalisation. | lucky punter
18/3/2008 17:17 | Like you haven't been here before. MPS doesn't die. It just crawls out of the grave looking uglier every time. Who wants to bet a tenner that it is still here next year at this time? A tenner because that seems about the right price for this stock. That's a tenner for all of MPS - not the share price. | andre
18/3/2008 15:46 | Meltdown. Bye bye Minorplanet. | lucky punter
18/3/2008 15:16 | What's going on here??? | looneytune
29/2/2008 12:09 | I don't think the losses will carry over that far. SD would probably know. CYH could reduce the UK costs to very low levels through migration. The hardware currently fitted could be utililised straight away and all the customer would know is a improvement in service and a new name at the top of the data. My concern however is the way that MPS are receiveing payment. I am not sure how much is recurring and what has been factored. I am also concerned about any debt which Cyh would not want a piece of. I am still going with the next CYH acquisition being in Europe. | lucky punter
28/2/2008 20:32 | LP, Yes, thought had occured but really wonder whether MPS is worth 10 million? I guess if you were able to keep around two thirds of the turnover, migrate all the contracts to your own platform and cut all MPS costs in one fell swoop then it could be attractive. Does MPS have tax losses that might be utilised as well? | bearstalker |
