09/1/2009 09:53 | steady buying over the last few days , and a rise in the price , at last | scrapman
06/1/2009 09:05 | bit of activity this am , as you say Solomon , a take out of 4 quid would beg these shares and be readily accepted I would think | scrapman
30/12/2008 01:37 | Interesting to see if Kwek Leng Beng buys out the minorities with MLC stock at this ridiculous price. Minority interests worth around £300m or maybe £400m in a takeout scenario. Peanuts for Kwek, estimated by Fortune to be worth over $4bn. Last year the stock was touted as a buyout with a 800p price. Been hugely oversold. Weak sterling will push results up for FY 08. | solomon9
10/12/2008 08:36 | wonder if Malaysian firm YTL could persuade Tamasek to part with their holdings, it would fit in with YTL's strategy of buying quality assets at silly prices , and as a good percentage of the portfolio is Far East based , it would be well known to them , just a thought dyor etc | scrapman
06/12/2008 23:54 | MLC is priced at around 0.36x book value, and bear in mind book value is understated for many of the properties it owns. Problem is right now, investors aren't buying hotels as we have seen in Korea. So stock is a tuck away. Low debt means co will not cut DIV which is the main support. Quality portfolio though, they could get £200m for London Tara hotel on its own. | solomon9
28/11/2008 21:09 | so sale of Seoul hotel falls through, but at least the buyer forfeits his deposit, which should more than cover any costs of MLC. edit - actually the buyer forfeits deposit AND pays costs - even better | bigbertie
24/11/2008 13:34 | should be hearing about the sale of the Korean hotel anytime soon , hopefully that should inject a bit of interest in these , still no news from the company , they really waste of space | scrapman
03/11/2008 21:37 | far too cheap, hope results on thurs don't disappoint. | jas_ron
28/10/2008 15:53 | pe of 3.5 is getting a bit silly , , need some form of reassurance from the company | scrapman
26/10/2008 12:07 | I am waiting for the FTSE 100 to get down to 3000 before I swing into action. | rcturner2
24/10/2008 09:14 | lol difficult not to be in this market! a director sell is the sort of thing that turns me totally off a stock | rcturner2
23/10/2008 11:29 | Or maybe not - don't be so gloomy! | bigbertie
23/10/2008 08:19 | Or maybe he thought the share price was going down? | rcturner2
21/10/2008 17:49 | But we have no idea why he sold. He was 72 when the last annual report was issued so he may have been doing some tax planning moves before he falls off his perch! Also he is president of a private hotel-owning company (in the US I think) so he may have needed money for his own business. Or maybe he is going to retire, or maybe his wife wants a holiday home in Hawaii.....who knows? | bigbertie
21/10/2008 17:01 | Trouble is a director selling is the last thing you need. I have been watching this one down from about 300p. I was rating this a buy but not after a director sell. | rcturner2
21/10/2008 11:34 | It is a bargain. This years results will be boosted by the Seoul Hilton sale (even if it fails!) and the first glimmers of economic recovery will give the share price a sudden boost. But don't be too greedy - it will take a solid global economic recovery before the shares recover their previous highs! The recent Goldman buy rec had a target price of 320p, which is presumably the price they expect it to reach in the present economic climate. IMHO & DYOR. | bigbertie
19/10/2008 00:17 | Anyone have a view on this stock down here 197p seems a bargain? | solomon9
15/10/2008 14:28 | any one got access to the crest borrowing data on this ?? | scrapman
07/10/2008 15:31 | well I think the market has comprehensively kicked the bejabers out of this now , must have shaken all weak holders and stop losses today , Another million through today , so turning into a bit of a regularity after being a very low volume stock , must be tempting to someone at these levels ??? | scrapman
07/10/2008 10:03 | 220p now - cant br long before chinese launch bid at 300p plus? | bonzo1
30/9/2008 11:57 | think there 's only you and me here BB , I too think this is a bargain , allowing they are going to get a cash draw , and a few quid as a bonus , must be well under market val by now , | scrapman
30/9/2008 11:49 | Sale of Seoul hotel now due end November, buyer to pay costs of delay. If sale falls through, buyer forfaits his deposit. This looks much better - I have even added a few below 250p. | bigbertie
19/9/2008 12:51 | well well , an announcement today saying that there's a delay in the completion of the Seoul hotel , after a few very heavy volume days where the price got hammered. Looks like someone got the info a bit early and shorted the hell out of them , hope they get their comeuppance | scrapman |
