Microsaic are recruiting a whole new team of scientists and engineers, a sure sign of confidence and expectations that their business is growing in anticipation of increased production and commercialisation , and the "specific duties" expected from the Project Manager vacancy suggests that new technology partnerships and projects could be in the pipeline....any good news will see this rise signicantly imho....this current bargain low share price offers a near term opportunity for some serious upside especially on disclosure of their global biopharma partner and/or confirmation of any new technology partnerships... Gla holders ;-)

Monitor and Control Upstream Bioprocessing using a Point-of-Need Mass Spectrometer

Richard W. Moseley

Alexander I. McIntosh

Microsaic Systems, Woking, United Kingdom

Article Info

Summary

Full Text

The applications of mass spectrometry in the pharmaceutical industry have long been established. Mass spectrometers are highly versatile and commonly used to identify reagents, products, contaminants, and impurities from samples in drug research and development, scale-up, and high volume manufacturing lines. However, the instruments are normally large, power demanding, and expensive pieces of equipment operated in centralized laboratories by MS specialists. The new demands of bioprocessing, used to make biologics, means that there is a need for analytical instruments, such as mass spectrometers, to provide real-time information (on-line and at-line) at the point-of-need. The information-rich data provided by MS also helps to address the increased complexities of bioprocessing. We show how our deployable, and compact mass spectrometer sampling the media from a bioreactor environment in real-time could provide important process monitoring, and critical quality attributes of the product. This information can then be used to maximize yields of biologics by optimising the cell media, feeding, and harvesting strategies of the target biologic being produced. In addition, MS point-of-need analysis provides timely safety assurance as any harmful PTMs of the product, and other dangerous host cell proteins can be controlled and minimized upstream.

Nice that we held on to last weeks 35% plus rise at Friday's close, which indicates that the majority of shares are now held tightly in anticipation of good and/or transformational news which could drop at anytime, and so hopefully more upside to come this week, and maybe news on more than one global biopharma partner possible. Gla Holders... Tick Tock. ;-)

New biopharma strategy

June 2017

Given the challenging markets in small-molecule detection, Microsaic has been working on the detection of larger molecules during biopharmaceutical manufacturing, or bioprocessing.

The company thinks there is more opportunity and money in this particular sector and is focusing its technical resources and working with partners in order to target the bioprocessing space., bioprocessing

“Despite 2017 proving to be a difficult year in our traditional markets, we are very encouraged with the progress since our 21 March 2017 update, when we introduced our biopharma strategy, specifically around bioprocessing,”; said interim non-executive chairman Eric Yeatman.

“We are engaging with several of the leading players in the global market for bioprocessing equipment, and are confident that the new strategic emphasis is opening significant opportunities for our unique technology.
