If i lived in London I would.

Should also say that I forgot to mention Gilson yesterday. They are a substantial size and have decent reputation too so that could develop into something worthwhile if they can get them to focus on the MS. As always the issue is will they make more selling their own kit as the margins are higher.

To tie in some previous comments some years ago at Pittcon they had their own TV channel which was broadcast to the local hotels. One year Gilson sponsored it, and it was terrible. Imagine a presenter who knows nothing about science walking from booth to booth asking “what does this do” with a fixed smile on her face. Alan Partridge cringe.

Margins we used to work on..

If the customer is paying 100, the distributor is paying 50-60 and cost of manufacturing is 30-40. We’d try and get the distributors to buy demo units but not all did.

I’d like to know how many units are in production facilities and how many are in independent R&D labs. May have more success in the latter. It’s surprising how much impact the software may have. There are a lot of labs that just run empower/openlab etc and they won’t have the drivers for this. Data integrity is a really hot topic at the moment, just have to see how many 483s are issued because of it.

Based on product sales of £460k they have sold a total of c 20 units with an additional c 9 in 2018 since there is an increase in product sales of c £220k. You do realise that when you sign up a distribution they normally buy a unit for demonstration purposes as part of the deal. So most of the additional sales can be explained by channel rather than sell-through to end users. Also that explains the increase in the first half of the year through signing up distributors with an upfront product sale. Of the channel partners Knauer and Gibson look best placed to shift volume to me. However, it is dissappointing in that something is clearly holding back end-user purchases. Performance or reliability or some other factor.

When we had a new product we would give our distributors at least 2 years to show some signs of life. Some needed more hand holding than others it’s all about building confidence. We”d often go out with the distributors and visit the customers with the reps. That way we could answer the customer questions and it would force the local dealer to actually go out and find customers (as opposed to just putting the products on their website and hope customers would ask).

Looking at the results they have probably sold about 10 units over the year to 6-7 different customers. Would mean that some distributors haven’t sold any - it’s a long term game. Good luck to all, as I have always said I hope it succeeds.

Daz, the CEO has a five year plan with lady year effectively being a pre 1st year.

Biotech might be able to confirm how long it takes to commercialise these disti agreements but from my experience in the IT world, it can take alot longer.

The results are pretty good in comparison.

Looking in here, does anyone know how long it takes to commercialise the partnerships they've signed?
I would have guessed 3 - 6 months for the development and testing. If so, I don't see how H1 of this year can show that much progress, given that some of the partnerships have been signed recently. Happy to be put right though.
