Holding-up relatively well in the carnage.
My break-out trade failed on timing and the break-out itself has now re-traced so we need some other catalyst than buy-backs for this one imv.
(See some of you trading the range successfully).

Catalysts?
- SUSE transaction; now completed and what to do with the cash ("and/or returned to shareholders...")?
- new Full Year ends 31 October so maybe a TU when announcing publication date of results. Probably no earlier than November/December.

Most of my holdings have "corrected" to the 52 week ma (200d equivalent). MCRO's 52 week ma is currently 1680p in a downtrend.
Is it relevant? Interesting imv.

BTW MCRO's compound dividend growth rate over 5 and 10 years is 21.36% and 24.25% respectively.

You appear to often want a last word here recently to ramp this up. I guess you bought in on the recent momentum and are under water now, poor timing happens to us all. This will climb the stairs back up sooner or later, but unlikely to recover in the drastic fashion it was smashed. GL.

You need to read the announcements.

'The net proceeds will be used in part to pay any tax arising from the Transaction and to repay a proportion of the existing Micro Focus Group debt. The remainder of the net proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes and/or returned to Shareholders through whatever mechanism the Board may in its discretion determine at the relevant time'

It's a good bet we'll see a shareholder return of value. Share buybacks, special divi of some kind. That's what mcro do. It's in their DNA.

As for trading, it's been a day of trading from 9am this morning. Mainly up. Still 100 million left on the buyback programme.

Nobody talking about collapse. Nobody talking about special dividends, yet. All speculative or wishful thinking. No point ramping it. Just trade it.

Price hit 1452 just a few days ago. A nice break to the upside from where I'm standing. A move to the 1980's in sight. Way oversold on the dip.

US indexes historic highs just a few days ago. Unlikely to see a collapse from there, just a pullback.

Still prefer buying the dips with mcro especially with the millions in buyback everyday and the 1 billion in special divi's coming.

But we'll see...

The tradingview site is much better than the historic price charting here. Plenty of detail on the last 4 months for MCRO, multiple hits down in 11s long after the initial drop. We are still in the range now as the price has not yet broken out.

Given the market madness mcro looking pretty good.

Hope you traders are making a fortune with the buying and selling.

Yes, good buying opp this morning.

A half decent day on the markets and we'll be back through 1400 in a flash.

I don't believe this market meltdown stuff.

Also, not sure where the 11 to 14 range comes from. Not been anywhere near that since the sell off.

Today I'm holding my long pot 30% and simply waiting to restock my trading pot 70%. The buyback has distorted the trading swings here over the last month or so, but I suspect until strong news comes, this will return to swinging 11 - 14. Unless the market all goes down the pan!

Selling into the rises is what causes the dips. It's all the same really.

The question is what are you doing today buying or selling?

The trend here is we keep seeing the same dips! ;) By all means buy them, but defo worth selling into the rises too.

Nothing against trading if you can do it. Much easier when there's a trend though.

I just bought on the big drop and have been buying the dips. Up 100% so far.

Each to their own..

Without wishing to teach the of sucking eggs, I think the correct approach is to both trade some and hold some. Hence the volatility here is useful, whilst hoping the general trend is up.

Wants to go much higher imo.

Probably a further 1 billion returned to shareholders come early next year.

Turnaround 1 year behind, but we're one year further on. At that time this was 2350.

Don't trade this as it's too volatile. Just keep buying the dips...

Difficult markets though. Which is why you always need to buy cash not hope.

It seems like they are all buys. May be bought by the share buy back to MCRO.

Hedge fund selling out. That's what they do. Good riddance!

Key question here is whether micro are getting back on track and getting those margins up to the mid 40's. Significant value coming back to shareholders, too.

The stock was unduly hit due to the HP mess ... coming back up to a better value range imo.

Seems although MCRO capitulated, maybe Elliott expected more moves upwards on the news like me :), and now they have better opportunities..

Elliott behind the SUSE sale, now gone, made their %, dumped the stock during the buyback highs? Not expecting more gains here?

Bought more on the dip. Trend going up. Oct to Jan strong months. Market a creature of habit.

Too much cash here to ignore..
