FXP, do not be fooled. Would recommend watching the EU MPs now as it is live and there is a mix for and against an extension, more for. Formerly should be worrying for the liberals. A deal or extension is far from guaranteed. No Deal is still on the table. I guess being from a European Country you do not get the UK mindset. It is clear from EU debate this morning that the EU do not want us to leave and believe the decision will be revoked at some time.

It has been a challenging year for Metro Bank, with the lender facing intense speculation over the health of its balance sheet earlier this year due to a £900 million accounting error.

However, investors’ concerns likely diminished somewhat after the bank successfully raised £375 million via a share placing in mid-May.

Metro Bank had originally only planned to raise £350 million from the fundraising but increased the final amount after receiving significant interest from investors.

Fears over Metro Bank’s financial health sparked a wave of deposit outflows earlier this year, prompting its share price to take a major tumble.

The stock has lost more than 88% of its value since the beginning of January, with the Metro Bank’s share price closing at trading at 193p as of 15:00 GMT on Monday, down from the £17 levels it saw at the start of the year.

Metro Bank’s total deposits sit at £13.7 billion, down 13% from 31 December 2018, driven by a limited number of commercial customers withdrawing deposits during intense speculation in February and May.

Despite the pressure the bank finds itself under, its management contends that 2019 is a ‘year of transition’, with the lender focused on upgrading its cost savings guidance to the upper end of its original range and rebalancing its lending mix.

This year also saw the resignation of the bank’s controversial Chairman and Co-Founder Vernon Hill, who will leave his post at the end of the year.

The bank is likely looking to put the first half of 2019 far behind it and instead focus on delivering costs efficiencies and continued growth in capital-light fee income.

Investors will be eager for an update how successful it has been in reducing expenditure.

The bank is also busily expanding its presence in the North of England in the hopes of empowering growth for SMEs in cities like Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham.

Metro Bank plans to open around 10 new branches in 2019.

Just watching an EU Hungarian MEP advising that there should be no extension. Time to move on for all. Now that could be where a Veto comes from.

SR movement so far today looks rather positive than negative especially on a backdrop of other Banks. By the way that short on Lloyd’s is looking well at moment.

Just heard the best thing so far, if bill passed, and a big if, an extension to the 2020 deadline would be needed as it would probably need 5years to negotiate the ultimate deal. Maybe that should reaffirm that this needs to be over now. Will we so a mood change early next week?

Looking at the movement yesterday and today, would not be surprised to see this share price finishing much higher today. So far bodes well for results day as surely we would have seen a move down by now. Would be interesting to see RNS after RNS tomorrow.

The best thing I have seen overnight is the news that those who are prepared to assist BJ, mainly the 21, are pressing for parliament to have more say in the next phase of negotiations. Pure insanity?
Also it is unlikely that labour will accept the need for a General Election this side of Easter. Tells you everything.

No Deal now 10/1. I just wonder what happens next should the bill not pass or if BJ pulls it in fear of, or should lots of silly amendments be added?
Only 9days to go to No Deal. Just need one veto remember, and let us face it this downward spiral cannot be allowed to go on forever. Would BJ bring his deal back, or would he face a lot of internal pressure just to leave? That would be very interesting, would it not?
Those liberals who believe they have won the day know how to grab a loss when faced with victory. Lol.
