I always keep trading balance small. I work with fixed risk and so having too much surplus can lead to emotional trade errors . Averaging down when it's outside scope etc

Just feed the balance per trade/inv required

The stupid thing about all this is the fact I only have a small trading account and being furloughed on 80% this week I made more money being on 80% and making a few trades this week, so I'm quite enjoying the break off work.

Personally I'd go mostly cash in pension fund for up to a year. 10% in a metal etf. Some bargains coming down the road . It will be a pension paradise glut for those doing their own

Unfortunately for those not managing own pensions, be years of recoup

If Italy is in lockdown until 3 May then fair to say UK lockdown will be beyond 3rd May minimum...and didn't Ireland say lockdown until May?...

Smartie6,

when the FTSE drops I put the cash back in, so sometimes I can be 100% long and I enter into high risk funds that rise quickly when the FTSE comes back up, I've been lucky to a degree. I then sell the funds when they come up, being 43% cash now gives me plenty of scope to make money when the FTSE falls, but of course so will my present holdings so it could easily be 10-12% down in the future.

I would like to be 100% cash but if the market comes up then I have to buy in later at higher levels so I'm staying 57% long.

No-one can know, the FED money has distorted everything, the game is not played on a level playing surface.

I see your point, and continue to say you’ve done extremely well to get to a break even of 6000 and holding the level of cash. I’d be well happy with that given what we’ve faced in a month.
I was in a job where I had to be cynical for 20years of my life and my gut feel tends to be right but living in such a world I do if honest tend to get it very wrong from time to time. As my partner says sometimes you can’t see the commercial point.
Who knows what is ahead. The one thing that we have to be glad for at this time is our health.

Personally regarding the markets I am getting concerned of not present levels but where they will be later in the year and making plans ahead. Currently I am 57% long and 43% cash and so far averaged my pension down to a 3% loss from FTSE 100 7500 levels and my new breakeven point would I estimate be around 6000/6100 area.

What concerns me is will the FTSE 100 hit low 4000 levels in say 6-9 months time when the earnings are much worse than expected? or will the FTSE have a steady climb back to say the 6500 area, Its tough to plan where all this is going?

No words from me either.
I’m shocked with what they are trying to achieve.
I can’t believe anyone is buying into the bull that they are pumping over in the states.
I’m either going to be wrong or unfortunately for all terribly, terribly right.
Interesting that Buffet is still sat on the sidelines and we haven’t heard a word. He used to be an ever present on CNBC.
I’ll continue to take advantage daily, as mentioned the other day averaging at £800 per day profit, although did manage to turn a further £1200 profit on Friday afternoon by buying and selling between 2.30pm and 4pm on impact on FTSE as Dow inevitably rises through further stimulus FED / Trump discussions.
I’m protecting my capital. Whilst my strategy is to buy in 5 tranches, 5000, 4750, 4500, 4250 and 4000, or adjusted to reflect further downside, I am also more than aware that I may get it wrong and be kicking myself on a massive chance missed.

Social unrest as unemployment rises and people are also going hungry.
Crisis on the streets. Numbers increasing and reducing because of deaths.
No matter how much Trump wants it for his own political and private agenda negativity within the Science community means that he’ll have to bow down to extended Lockdown pressure.
Democrats are unsupportive of further stimulus packages aimed at markets, now seeking to amend to direct 2 trillion into health and direct to people.
SME failures about to rise exponentially as money isn’t getting to the Businesses that need it. Only 3% success rate at this time.
You can only keep stacking for a limited time period before everything comes tumbling down.
The market is becoming the biggest pyramid scheme of all time imho.

Pion said that he learnt from SR and was very confident in his own abilities.

So either SR is a bad teacher, or Pion didn’t understand much.
