today's NAV still shows quite a discount to share price but sell off in base metal stocks today will reduce it a bit but still sizeable!

I have tried to get a breakdown on the smaller holdings but failed thus far.

bionicdog- I notice that 51% is in diversified holdings so no clue to what they are ! Maybe the reason the fund has quite a discount to NAV as not wholly in base metal , gold stocks etc.? thanks for giving the useful link .

buffin- probably just that punters reckoned the base metals might have a more severe correction after dip on Thursday. But it seems they got it wrong after most base metals took off on Friday . Interesting times and I am just trusting the MLW chart and adding on any weakness in share price .

Not too hard to find.

Then search for the fund you're interested in , ie

Any ideas on why the fall on the back of higher NAV?

with share price at 435 after today's plunge, now at quite a discount to NAV even allowing for a probably slight fall in NAV when announced tomorrow !

it tells us that the holders of the warrants ignore the short term movements of the underlying stock as confident of medium term uptrend . BUT , if resource stocks ever do take a real tumble and there is a reversal of the trend , dangerous indeed to hold the warrants !!

Maybe that MLWT was trading well over par anyway. I've noticed that the MMs have been reuctant to drop MLWT too far last week at times of weakness. Maybe this denotes a floor and furure strength for MLWT?

MLW up 14p ,MLWT only up 6.5p , what is this telling us ?

hectcorp,
I agree that warrant holders could take a hiding in short term if the correction continues. Spreadbets give same or better potential profit as warrants with less risk for a number of reasons . But useful for leverage before the advent of spreadbetting ! happy easter !

I don't know about 3-6 months Hector , the last few years have been very good for me.

use the 'surprise' bit to work out why. Maybe the smart players believe there is soon to be a correction in the underlying metals prices*. Possibly Hedge Funds will place large short positions. I dont know the answers, but by being wary of overexposure, its possible not to get caught out.
This would be particularly relevant to the Warrants.

Many of us are sitting on very good 3-6 month gains in the commodities so not surprising to see profit taking eg just before Easter, its also a tax point date for Yanks and Canadians possibly.

My own GUESS is that we will have 2-3 good rising weeks ahead: before some further selloffs in May through the summer. I'll want to be long many stocks mid-week coming. But if zinc and copper stay in low stock, these metals may simply push on and on.

* I don't happen to expect this .

a bit surprising that resource stocks have fallen in recent days as metal prices have kept rising , particularly zinc and copper. maybe famous last words but I reckon it is only a minor correction !

Fine by me mate.
There's not a lot to discuss on a board like this anyway , apart from the component parts of the fund and the current discount to NAV. At the end on the day , if BLT and RIO go down 2% , then so will MLW. A bidding war for LMI is the only real excitement that we could have on the horizon.

bionicdog,
Ok, but the words you used( " pay attention" )irritated me and uncalled for . So let's end this mini "feud" and focus our efforts on making money . I am sure it only amuses fellow posters ! good luck with your MLW holding and I have retained some after taking profits .

Don't think we'll see much action on here now Hector , not unless gold can make a decisive push through $600. Mind you , it's having a go even as I speak.

BLT is losing the early gains today. It is not a day to go long MLWT.

You could also use the filter button so that you don't get yourself in a state reading my posts when I am correcting you on your mistakes.
Apologies to everyone else , but I'm sure that you will agree that he started it LOL!
