Apologies if answered previously

Has anyone had money taken out of their Halifax sharedealing accounts yet for the open offer shares?

very quiet Granny7, £1 by xmas? All starts in less than a week, hopefully some good rns next week and we get to see who the insts are that will hold over 3% in the new company.

My my, but it's all gone quite around here...only 3 trading days left before the biggest day in MRP's history and probably the last trading days in MRP. When the votes are finished being counted the president can rise and march forth to multiply our wealth...hopefully!

IJ,

Yes. I recall you mentioning something about it some time ago. I just try to keep my dealings from becoming embroiled in that legislation as best I can. Good luck.

tommo: yes, and it doesn't help when it seems to change every single year. If you buy and sell on the same day though that is outside of the rule, and its almost like the ministry of silly walks....or was previously...but what it is this week I'm not quite sure.

Brasso,

Not too clued-up on it but my understanding is that if you sell a share and then re-purchase it within 30 days then the issue becomes a bit more complicated when it comes to working out your profit/loss during that financial year. Goes well over my head but my wife understands it!! I therefore try to keep things nice and simple. Never partially sell any holding (it's always all or nothing with me, except on this occasion) and always attempt to avoid re-purchasing a share within 30 days of having sold it.

just received a letter through the post this morning from Meridian Petroleum PLC making sure that I am fully aware of the proposals set out and an invite to attend the EGM. If I can't attend, which unfortunately I wont be able to, they would appreciate support by contacting TDW to arrange a proxy vote. Also an invite to ask any questions via email to (sgutteridge.2@btinternet.com) or phone him at his London office (0207 811 0145)
They will get a YES vote from me if it can be done.

LR2,

Thanks. I thought that too. The reason I asked is that the batch I rashly sold on Oct 30th was at a loss, which I'm hoping to set against CGT profits elsewhere, but am also conscious of the 30 day rule.

Halifax make you wait 3 days for the cash to clear when you fund your account so I think ive missed the cut off unfortunately, I can understand the T3 on a share trade but on cash?!

Apologies if this is a stupid question but, assuming everything is passed at the EGM, what is the official date when we actually acquire the new shares?

H101, no shame in selling out when you saw the mm reaction to offer rns, was it not for a strong cup of coffee I could very well have been in the same position myself. These have defied the usual scenario with placings/offers which is a very good indeed. However as you can read from the posts nobody knows which way from here. Personally I am of the view that having held so well to date I do not see any major retrace, in fact, post egm I am hopeful of significant gains. Hope nobody drags this post up in a few weeks to prove me wrong, lol. All imho, dyor etc and good luck, hoping you can get back in and enjoy some growth. duc.

Tad - I would have voted yes, however as you know I sold out and lost the power to vote. Can I say, your posts are couched in very general, accusative terms towards "those that sold out", yet I've not seen the negativity you allude to be expecting. Reminds me of the loaded question: When did you stop beating your wife? Perhaps you could be specific with respect to posters in future to avoid confusion? No offence intended.
