19/11/2007 11:25 | What they said in lead up to interims: EMEA: Interim Management Statement (8/8)and AGM Statement (6/9) said "On a like-for-like basis JCC sales have delivered an increase of 5%, and increased licensing income has derived from both new licences and royalty income which has more than doubled on existing licences." US: Final Results (28/6) comment: "Sales of Emanuel Ungaro and Ungaro Homme in Europe and North America are both encouraging and close to expectations" IMS (8/8) said "The retail environment in North America continues to be difficult and sales by Moda America are lower than for the same 13 week period last year. On the positive side margins have improved as a result of Marchpole's sourcing capabilities." AGM (6/9) said nothing further. GREENMARK: Annual Report said "Turnover of Greenmark Limited for the period from acquisition to 31 March 2007 was £3,208,000 and the profit before tax was £255,000. For the period between 1 April 2006 and the acquisition date, Greenmark Limited had sales of £21,178,000 and a profit before tax of £1,824,000." FR (28/6) said not much. IMS (8/8) said "Greenmark has been successfully integrated into the Marchpole business model and is performing ahead of expectations." AGM (6/9) said "We are pleased to report that the integration of Greenmark Limited, the ladies footwear designer and importer, which was acquired in March 2007, has been successful and we are seeing increased sales and improved margins" UK: Homebody: AGM (6/9) said "A European multi-lingual website went live this week and we are confident that this will deliver a significant increase in internet sales." Boateng: IMS (8/8) and AGM (6/9) said "Boateng sales and orders have grown from last year when performance was blighted by legal disputes and market confusion over the continuation of the licence" Ungaro: FR (28/6) said "Sales of Emanuel Ungaro and Ungaro Homme in Europe and North America are both encouraging and close to expectations." IMS (8/8) said "Sales of Emanuel Ungaro and Ungaro Homme in Europe, including the UK, are encouraging and in line with expectations". AGM (6/9) said "Sales of Emanuel Ungaro and Ungaro Homme in Europe, including the UK, are encouraging and in line with our expectations" Ungaro Other: AGM (6/9) said "demand for the new Emanuel Ungaro first line, designed by Franck Boclet, has exceeded our expectations" | momentos
19/11/2007 11:22 | not surprised at the fall, Mark was right when he said it will take a couple of years, It would seem no one has any idea how much it costs to open new stores in capital cities, China and Budapest are now mentioned for the first time, sourcing shoes from asia, as the real is up against the dollar, office costs in Paris are in euros, product sold in dollars ( not all ) It costs to expand...... Ted Baker opened in the middle east shares went up, Marchpole open's shares go down. YSL gone but now with 70 million turnover, no cake today, but they are doing the right thing..... | nardelli
19/11/2007 11:21 | Well, well, well we are now a lot poorer than we expected to be this morning. I have tried to read through the Interims and look for the positives but I think I need a larger microscope to find any. Obfuscation seems to be the order of the day. I particularly do not like the increase of bank facilities by £13.7 million without an eplanation of the usage. The second half is always the strongest by far and as I do not take part in fire sales I am holding ( but like many others I suppose, I wish I had called the top @ c. 190p, as the clever ones did, and realised my profit ). These must go in the bottom drawer for a few more years. remynapoleon ps. A small plus, with the share price at a mid price of 73.5p and a maintained dividend of 3.75p this gives a basic rate tax paid return of 5.1% approx. I went to the Blair/Brown school of spin. ;-) | remynapoleon
