Highest daily volume on the DOW in the last three years, down 588 at close, the volume with the fall is the key, this could be the start of a major crash.

Quality gold stocks capitulating for instantance Royal Gold down 10%, Franco Nevada down 5%. This seems like Funds being liqiudated, due to margin calls. it will be good to get these weak holders out of the system, then hopefully the next more should be up.

Never mind guys, they forecast the end in 1975 after the long slide but everything moved up from early January 1976; in three years of gloom major gold shares doubled in price and a major boom started down under in mining stocks: the previous gloom evaporated so fast it was unbelievable.

The Emperor is naked the child must speak.ive been saying that for 7 years !
At some stage the lenders must realise that there is no prospect of the debtors ever paying them back.
Will the child speak now time will tell .

The US markets have been defying gravity for so long so it would be no surprise to see a significant fall. But the same situation exists in the bond market and we already see the 'junk' end falling apart. Whether the selling creeps up to the higher quality end of the bond market remains to be seen ... and then there is the USD itself of course!

Everywhere I look things look dire and it is difficult for me to see any clear positives when global trade is falling and high debt levels are weighing down economies across the planet.

The monetary authorities have made an almighty mess this century and they are still following the same misguided policies - so goodness knows how this will all play out in the end and just how badly ordinary people will be impacted. The world has never had to work through such exorbitant debt and derivative levels before. I guess it will end up as a period that will be taught in economics classes for the next 100 years!

Cheers chip I didn't look at silver , so that's out of stock as well lol.
What do you think this week will be like in the stock markets ? I suppose the overnight Asian markets will be a pointer, the DOW on Friday was still dropping into the close.
I still have a feeling that China hasn't finished devaluing their currency

Dek,

Like you, I find it difficult to believe the (lack of) stock levels at this site:

Still appears to be reasonable levels of coins here (although not much available from the US, Canadian or Austrian mints):

Just checked Hatton garden metals , no gold coins, all out of stock, I don't believe it, I think they are expecting a big bump up in prices and are sitting on them, and I don't blame them lol

Even the HUI gold index is down today with the general market collapse, I wolud have thought gold and silver miners would be insulated from any more pain considering that they have experienced a massive Bear market for the last 4 years together with the fact that gold is over $1,150USD, but no they get mashed as well, not fair really.

Bill Holter: We Are Witnessing a Credit Collapse: Monday Could Be a DISASTER!
August 21, 2015 by The Doc

The credit BUST is here! Markets all over the world are crashing and the U.S. is now losing control. After breaking down yesterday, today looks to be another bad day. If the PPT cannot get any traction today, Monday could be a disaster.

The failure will be spectacular.
In as few words as possible, we are witnessing a credit collapse.
