Among the smaller stocks, Mereo Biopharma, a pharmaceuticals company that focuses on developing treatments for patients with rare diseases, rose by more than 7 per cent after Cantor Fitzgerald issued a “buy” rating on the stock and a target price of 720p, citing the value-adding potential of its respiratory therapies. The shares closed up 3p, or 7.1 per cent, at 45½p.

The more analysing I do of this company, the more excited I get of its prospects, it definitely has an image issue and needs to work on improving its name, that being said, the drugs in its pipeline, the management team, the projected 40% growth each year and its cash flow. This is a very attractive stock at the moment

Interesting that this is one of the few biotech shares woodford has said he is holding onto. Think we have now reached a floor so expecting some upwards movement.

It has been reported today that Woodford Investment management, which the Mereo website says controls/owns 31.1% of Mereo stock, has suspended redemptions from its fund.
This is bound to affect the stock price until the problem is resolved.

I was at the Shares presentation last night. The anti sclerostin drug for brittle bone disease would worry me if I was a shareholder. Amgen's sclerostin drug has just had a cardiovascular signal in their phase III results which at best will restrict the label and at worse stop it being approved. And the problem is that Mereo are giving a much higher dose iv! They actually haven't disclosed the dose but it is certainly much higher.

So you have to say that the risks for this drug are high IMHO.

They wanted to list on the Nasdaq because of new investors and higher multiples. US investors clearly not interested. Judging by the use of primary bid nor are British ones. The run out of cash in about 6 months.

Must admit I'm completely confused by recent RNSs. Company said it wanted to list on the Nasdaq and then 3weeks later pulled it due to "market conditions" (had anything changed in 25trading days), then last Friday announces this placing to facilitate US ADRs under the guise of expanding PI ownership - and today hails the success of raising £150k even though they have tens of millions of cash. What was the point ?and it's left this current shareholder completely confused (and no I didn't take part given I didn't understand what they are doing)
