So operations lost £500k and operational cash flow negative £650k and without the unexpected but welcome profit from land would have been very poor.

With admin costs expected to rise, chairmans report, and other headwinds ,will wait for first half results .

OK results. Just still very much "were still but lding the foundations, but things will be better in half a year" type update.Revenues, profit growth promised for H2.Pension value still not realised yet, no timeline.

Agreed baner. It's a similar situation at both DRV and STM, both of which I also hold. Any of the 3 could get taken out and "rationalised".

Totally agree with you. However they probably spend £1m +/- on central costs, 5% of the group´s turnover. From shareholders point of view, it is probably better to have the company sold to an entity that can eliminate the bulk of these costs. Add them back and LPA should make 20-25p/share of EBIDTA in 2024 and then be worth 150-200p to a buyer.

Very sound risk/reward - it seems as Gillenhammer has made a good investment here.

In Canada it seems that they are taking public safety regarding air disinfection on trains --- seriously

Updated October 21, 2022
Air Handling and Filtration

" The trains will include a UV system to disinfect air as it circulates through the ventilation system.

15.23.1

An In-Duct Ultraviolet (UV) LED Light System shall be provided as part of the filtering equipment to treat the return air that passes through the HVAC unit with ultraviolet light in order to reduce or eliminate the DNA-based airborne contaminants (e.g. bacteria, viruses, mold spores, yeast, protozoa), and provide operators, maintainers and passengers with much healthier air to breathe."

In China we are about to witness circa 10% of the world's population acquiring Covid-19 over the next 90 days

As Covid-19 once again hits the headlines following recent WHO talk of the pandemic being over in 2023

So to will its acquisition via airborne transmission of affected peoples breath

All forms of Public transport must , will sooner or later, need actions as covid mutations gather pace due to lack of public air disinfection measures such as the use of UV-C

Covid-19 and its mutant family are now here to stay

Hoping that they go away is not an option

Taking actions that mitigate covid spread by inactivation of the viruses whilst in the air is

Look at what PG has done at PCA that also had high exec costs.

the company is debt free-ish today with a market cap of c. £10m. at £1.75m of EBT, PER would be c. 7 so it seems you are a bit tough on LPA here Charo. but say in 2023/24 they turnover 22m at 9% ROS, EPS will then be c. 12p. at a PE of 12 this will take the shares to c. 145p. it seems to me the risk/reward is pretty sound here - however we still are in total agreement central costs seems to be far too high.

To justify current market cap needs to report circa 1.75 million pretax profit, basic fundamentals.SO NOT NEXT YEAR ,perhaps following if management gets into gear.
With continual restructuring doubtfull.
Board has no meaningful skin in game.PG interest may focus them
doubt he will bid
but will threaten to support any possible suitor.
Value will only come through merger or takeover but doubt sufficient value for cash offer.

how many others like this are in the business?

PA Group plc, the high reliability LED lighting, electronic and electro-mechanical system designer and manufacturer, is pleased to announce the sale of an undeveloped plot of land owned by the Group.

Following internal review and taking account of the property market, the Board agreed to market the plot. A blind bid process commenced through an external agent and a cash offer of GBP1.72m was accepted, and the sale has now completed. The plot is in close proximity to the Group's Saffron Walden site and gave rise to rental income of GBP7,000 pa from a communications mast which is situated on the plot. The net proceeds are expected to be invested in the medium to long term to support the Group's growth. The book value of the plot at 31 March 2022 was GBPnil. The proceeds, net of sale costs, will be recognised as an exceptional gain in the current year's results, with gross sales proceeds of GBP1.72m.

"There is no value in a break up"........come on, Charo. you must be able to do better than that.......however i do agree with you the plc costs are horrendous and that there is clearly need for more efficient management of the businesses. there is far too much overhead in the group. but this is why the break up value is likely to be significantly higher than the prevailing market price, you see.

There is no value in a break up.The shareholders bear cost of plc and need operational improvement to justify even present value.

CT I think evhoward is confusing Peter Gyllenhammar with Per Gyllenhammar, that's all.

Per is retired as far as i know.
Peter is the investor and will shake this out of its slumber.

Kinwah - sounds like a good scenario going forward. The break up value is probably nearer to double the prevailing share price - central costs are massive and reduce the perceived value way too much. Time for change.

PG is picking up lumps of old family related stock. I think he'll get to 29.9% fairly quickly then with his fan club of me, Tiger and others call a general meeting to change the board. I think we all want to see the inherent value in this company realised.

UV-C DISINFECTION IN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES: FOCUS ON TRAINS AND TRAMS

The above looked at DISINFECTION FROM VIRUSES AND BACTERIA IN THE DRIVER'S CAB

Alstom, one of the largest manufacturers in the railway sector, has been involved with the development of an automatic, effective and safe solution for eliminating viruses and bacteria inside the driver's cab

What about the travelling public ?

An evaluation of the risk of airborne transmission of COVID-19 on an inter-city train carriage

Conclusion bottom line being

While the risk of infection for a one-off journey is likely to be low, our analysis suggests that there is the potential for a significant number of reinfections on the carriage when a particularly infectious person is present. Every effort should therefore be made to mitigate the risk of transmission on these carriages.

Filters in train air delivery systems do not cope well with such a small virus as Sars-Cov-2 at 0.05 microns in size

Thua enclosed (therefore safe) UV-C chambers that inactivate the covid virus as the train carriage air passes through it (within a second ) need to be installed if safety of travelling rail passengers is or becomes a key requirement
