16/10/2014 21:29 | London Mining enters into administration as Ebola outbreak hurts Sierra Leone mine Thu, 16th Oct 2014 16:45 London Mining on Thursday said a"dramatic fall" in iron ore prices and the Ebola crisis had led the company to enter into administration. The group said the iron ore prices left the business without enough liquidity and the negotiations between the lenders and potential buyers of the Marampa mine in Sierra Leone took longer than expected. Sierra Leone is one of the most affected countries with the Ebola outbreak, which the firm said is a "going concern". Chief executive Graeme Hossie said: "I applaud [the employees] for the ongoing leadership role our team has played within the private sector in Sierra Leone in helping address the challenges of the current Ebola crisis. "The Marampa mine retains excellent fundamentals and it is our sincere wish for it to find the appropriate financial support to continue operating over the longer term." | soul limbo | |
