I see that the Earl of Cromer has now resigned. The FT article is useful, but it didn't really articulate the full story. Has anyone received anything from Richmont? A requisitioner who can't even write to shareholders shows utter contempt, but I suspect we know why they can't play a straight game given what has happened here.

His Linkedin profile has a photo, though it looks pretty old. This appears more recent:

Was pleased to see the press coverage this morning. Stevenson is a good journo and at least with him covering this we have a public voice. Hope its not too late. Mr Chen maybe needs to be brought to the attention of the authorities in Beijing if he has behaved improperley. Any likelihood of Littlewood turning up on Monday? Anybody got a photo of him please post it. Might as well know who to look for.

Well done to whoever for at last getting some media attention on this. It is time for the whole story to be aired in public. Whilst Chen may be politically connected in his local area, the central communist party leadership in Beijing would not hesitate to destroy him if it became in their interests to do so.

Sadly too late I understand.....The vote is almost certainly not going the company's way...unless some rabbit is pulled out of the hat. A clear case of corruption and intimidation IMHO. The chinese are not even trying to be subtle about it. I guess when we heard that Mr Chen is a member of the local political scene we should have guessed. AND the article is wrong:- the requisition says nothing I believe about relpacing the directors - they are just leaving thier own, single, director. That says it all.

Article in todays FT Money section by David Stevenson re LDC which just gives the facts and mentions SL and Richmont with more to follow next week! Also gives a quote from a private investor John Slater - Cant find the link tho' - at least we have some journo covering our case

I'm being bombarded with letters asking for my vote - they are obviously worried. However, if it goes the wrong way I'm sure that those with substantial shareholdings are not going to just give up. Just remember, if the only director left doesn't speak english, you just have to speak louder!

Not a good sign, is it. Have got Selftrade to make sure my votes count, but I have a feeling the villains have done their sums this time and will get their way.
