Who is this Jonwig fellow and why do so many people here mention him?

Good post, as ever, 74tom. It was BUR's tackiness, just like that of jonwig and his fervent "followers" that brought it down. Still he and they paid heavily for it, didn't they? Ig-Nobel prize for LIT, he said! Ha Ha.

Yes, the latest funky vid. There are a few interesting growth points made by Patrick in there. He also mentions that if a decision to enter the huge US market was made, it would like be by way of acquisitions of existing players (also a mirror of what Bur did).

@greenknight, agree completely. Which YouTube video was the $600m third fund mentioned in? The funky finance interview?

It’s exactly the same path that BUR & Omni Bridgeway took from 2016 onwards, and which saw both business re-rate considerably. The difference is that we don’t have issues with fair value accounting to confuse the investment case.

Imagine a scenario where in 18 months time time we have fully committed the second fund of USD300m and just agreed the third for USD600m.

Material cases from the first USD150m fund will be approaching settlement (33 months since the fund was signed off), in the interim many cases that were funded between IPO & third party fund should have also settled successfully.

AUM in US dollars would be several multiples of today’s level.

BUR had market cap growth of;

2014: £385m
2015: £588m
2016: £1472m
2017: £3239m
2018: £4618m

This was mainly achieved via leveraging their investments through bond issuances, before a massive $1.6b third party fund was agreed at the end of 2018. We know what happened next, as fair value accounting + Petersen + Muddy Waters combined to cast a huge shadow on their trustworthiness.

We are following a different path. No revenue vanity, our success will be measured on completed cases and AUM. If executed well then should lead to similarly spectacular growth.

The new fund, I believe is days away from being announced. What also excites me is that in the recent YouTube video Patrick talks of a third fund of $600m. This company is going places.

It's had similar pull backs many times during the recent re-rate, BUR did exactly the same during it's huge run... news of either the new fund, new investments or current case settlements will drive us higher, the interim days will be consolidation. Simple :)

Worth looking back at the early days of BUR where the price went from pence to £20.

No reason LIT can't follow a similar growth path.

(At £20 BUR was valued at over £4bn. LIT currently valued at less than £150m)
