wanted more but once again there seems to be very little stock around so what

IMO, they've extended the deadline for drilling to Aug 2015, NOT cancelled
drilling before then if a commercial deal can be struck. A CNOOC/Shell/Chevron
farm-in would be my guess and the ownership questions will be resolved later.

Under their new leader, I believe China are realising a diplomatic solution
to their various territorial disputes with neighbouring countries is the
only way forward, because the nightmare scenario of a swift military escalation
in the area, which would likely involve the US, could be simply catastrophic
for us all.
