26/2/2016 18:34 | Fang, I'd put that down to the poverty level and the autocratic nature of most African governments in recent history. The whole system of bribery and patronage seems to flourish in any political system run along those lines, and where the masses have very little. It was the same until very recently (and still exists in some form) in the Visegrad countries. India, China, Russia, and the ME are also examples - and I'd guess it was the same here, just longer ago. What is truly shaming though, is the falsifying of expenses by our MPs - our supposed leaders & role-models. They don't have the excuse of being either poor or disempowered - unlike most Africans. ---- The difference being it's not so blatant here in the UK,and corruption doesnt extend all the way through the value chain - whereas in Africa it does. That doesn't happen in UK for starters. Corruption, bribery is rife, throughout the value chain - it's even worse for the indigenous population where they have to pay bribes for everything! | biggerthus
26/2/2016 18:00 | The difference being it's not so blatant here in the UK,and corruption doesnt extend all the way through the value chain - whereas in Africa it does. Eg Police in Nigeria/ Kenya, around Christmas time, stopping foreigners not in cars with diplomatic plates on dubious infringement grounds asking "What can you do for me today sir" ie It's Xmas, give me some money. That doesn't happen in UK for starters. Corruption, bribery is rife, throughout the value chain - it's even worse for the indigenous population where they have to pay bribes for everything! | fangorn2
26/2/2016 12:13 | You might also wonder, who was behind that education and that history... ? Er, oh yes - the British Empire. --- down to education and their history | biggerthus
26/2/2016 12:10 | "African nations are inherently corrupt, down to education and their history" Lol, not like good old blighty where government and business are transparent and fair and there is no nepotism or corruption, gotta watch out for johnny foreigner. | fraserdean
25/2/2016 13:24 | @news, Nigeria is as bent as a 2 pound note, the government can't even pay oil bills as there are frequent queues at petrol stations. African nations are inherently corrupt, down to education and their history so do invest only what you can afford to lose. The above has always been a concern for me, whether I was invested or not. It's a "known" risk. big question is just how bad it will be given low Poo and a government out of cash effectively. | fangorn2
25/2/2016 10:46 | Most Oilies are picking up but Lek is tracking down. Sniff test? Fail. | cinques
25/2/2016 07:08 | News,No sold because these issues have come to light recently and are now of concern .I rather buy at 20p knowing my investment is safer than hold on in hope that these issues do not exist or will disappear | jailbird
24/2/2016 21:03 | Position posters, how sadFunny none of this was a concern until you sold out, hey ho | newswseller
24/2/2016 20:42 | Nigeria is as bent as a 2 pound note, the government can't even pay oil bills as there are frequent queues at petrol stations. African nations are inherently corrupt, down to education and their history so do invest only what you can afford to lose. All the best. | dazah
24/2/2016 20:39 | Ngms27 I agree, very fishy so I've sold all my holdings. I will wait for the rns and then think about reentering if positive. Share price tells it all and usually when a share price keeps going down then usually bad news follows. I think they can recover but I can see a 50% knock to the share price coming :/ | dazah
24/2/2016 17:19 | Something doesn't add up though, if I were a gambling man I'd say the article is based on truth. Read the RNS's, it's effectively 6 months since they made any progress or announced anything on 002, plus they changed the 2nd string from C5 to C6 without any explanation. | ngms27
24/2/2016 16:44 | Don't shoot the messenger please!! Talk to this people hxxp://m.thenigerian #SaveAfren | ldlv
24/2/2016 16:35 | You look forward?? You are really bitter about your loss in AFREN such that you'd wish bad news on a company that bought one of AFRENS assets... | newswseller
24/2/2016 16:28 | Here is some information about TNV: hxxp://m.thenigerian I look forward to the next RNS specially any related information about "well be temporarily suspended until a new rig could be sourced for a sidetrack in future" | ldlv
24/2/2016 16:27 | Presumably TNV checks their sources and doesn't just publish any rubbish. Don't shot the messenger! | ldlv |
