Fang,
I'd put that down to the poverty level and the autocratic nature of most African governments in recent history.
The whole system of bribery and patronage seems to flourish in any political system run along those lines, and where the masses have very little.
It was the same until very recently (and still exists in some form) in the Visegrad countries. India, China, Russia, and the ME are also examples - and I'd guess it was the same here, just longer ago.
What is truly shaming though, is the falsifying of expenses by our MPs - our supposed leaders & role-models. They don't have the excuse of being either poor or disempowered - unlike most Africans.

----
The difference being it's not so blatant here in the UK,and corruption doesnt extend all the way through the value chain - whereas in Africa it does.

That doesn't happen in UK for starters. Corruption, bribery is rife, throughout the value chain - it's even worse for the indigenous population where they have to pay bribes for everything!

Eg Police in Nigeria/ Kenya, around Christmas time, stopping foreigners not in cars with diplomatic plates on dubious infringement grounds asking

"What can you do for me today sir"

ie It's Xmas, give me some money.

You might also wonder, who was behind that education and that history... ?

Er, oh yes - the British Empire.

@news,

Nigeria is as bent as a 2 pound note, the government can't even pay oil bills as there are frequent queues at petrol stations.

African nations are inherently corrupt, down to education and their history so do invest only what you can afford to lose.

The above has always been a concern for me, whether I was invested or not. It's a "known" risk. big question is just how bad it will be given low Poo and a government out of cash effectively.

News,No sold because these issues have come to light recently and are now of concern .I rather buy at 20p knowing my investment is safer than hold on in hope that these issues do not exist or will disappear

Ngms27 I agree, very fishy so I've sold all my holdings. I will wait for the rns and then think about reentering if positive.

Share price tells it all and usually when a share price keeps going down then usually bad news follows.

I think they can recover but I can see a 50% knock to the share price coming :/

Something doesn't add up though, if I were a gambling man I'd say the article is based on truth.

Read the RNS's, it's effectively 6 months since they made any progress or announced anything on 002, plus they changed the 2nd string from C5 to C6 without any explanation.

Here is some information about TNV:

I look forward to the next RNS specially any related information about "well be temporarily suspended until a new rig could be sourced for a sidetrack in future"

Presumably TNV checks their sources and doesn't just publish any rubbish.
