Slightly disappointing inflation figures this morning. Looks like rate cuts are receding further into the distance. Hopefully won't crater all the recent good stock market work...

CPI 2.3% and not hitting fcst 2.1%. This will keep the lid on share price for a little longer I expect , but help us divi reinvestors have continued attractive yields. Will be adding GLA

The dividends have started to arrive and ever mindful of the adage sell in May and go away, Come back on St Ledgers Day will be letting them accumulate in my accounts.

Most of my monies are now in tracker funds but have kept some back for day to day plays.

There is very little interest out there to either buy or sell so seems to be a sensible option to me anyway.

Phoenix coming in today followed by Aviva tomorrow gives me more options but might just book another holiday as the shares seem to go up whenever I am away and bereft of Internet access.

Best of luck to all I do hope the weather takes a turn for the better

Pierre I’m surprised you find what I’m saying difficult to understand it’s not small retail investors that move markets and stocks but big institutions and their counterparts in a game that’s heavily loaded in their favour. You can’t even put the odds in your favour with your idea of an income stream that can be easily interrupted. Forgetting Mars bars lots of people lose money in markets because they don’t understand value because they believe in claims not linked to common sense and lack some basic maths skills.

I love the simplicity of your thinking, Peter. You could work for Billy Smart!

Not really sure what you are saying. Doesn't everyone in the stokmarket want to make a copious profit (and that is always at he expense of someone else?) In fact, doesn't everyone who goes to work want money at the expense of someone else? The sweeper up at Mars get his money at the expense those who buy mars bars who end up with less money.

Obviously, whatever techniques anyone uses, no one can predict stock prices (even though some think they can by only remembering when a guess is successful and forgetting when it's unsuccessful). All we can do is put the odds in our favour to a lesser or greater extent, but luck or bad luck always plays a big part. Sometimes it's better to look on investments as buying an income stream which is much less volatile that share prices.

It’s like this you can never really predict markets or stocks in relation to how they behave but you can appreciate that someone is after making copious amounts of money at the expense of someone else FACT.

Of course it’s subjective different people and organisations place different values based on metrics and how they interpret the numbers. The fact that the UK has underperformed and trades lower maybe a fact but you should be asking the reasons why! Although we have hit all time highs don’t you notice something telling?

Their performance has, but their stocks haven't. Bargains for the rest of us locking in crazy long term yields

Yep; factually the DAX is positive this morning (just) - But if all our big pension funds and insurers invest abroad, shouldn't their share prices be rising too?

It's not subjective, it's fact. the UK has under performed and trades on a lower valuation than most major world markets

Well 007dope that’s subjective really but the measures I look at say otherwise and I’m sure after the Americans have finished their pump normal business will resume. Hard to believe that the UK massively underperformed for so long and now it springs to life! Nothing about all world indexes reaching all time highs given the massive debt bubble makes little sense when you consider it’s about interest rates falling again.

"if" OIL share prices are going down than possibly insurance/pension share prices should be going up

This is the graph for SHEL -
It does look like our time is approaching

The UK mkt is not expensive at all trev123. It has massively underperformed and foreign money is coming in due to the low valuations

The market has entered that truly bonkers phase and you can tell that here because that dividend was earned back very fast and that’s rare here but I suspect there will be a price eventually. However out of all the stocks you could own this is a better one I suppose. Quite frankly all this talk of UK markets being undervalued is bizarre when you drill down on most stocks even a few months ago it was slim pickings but now it’s bonkers and nope it’s not sour grapes because this has already been a Stella year for me.

The vast majority who attend AJ Bell do so for the free sandwiches and a stamp on their loyalty card which gets them vouchers for Waitrose. Watch the rush for the food at the end. The presenters are usually good but the only reason to go in my opinion is to talk to the presenters after to ask a load of questions which is relatively easy as most of the audience is busy eating. I intend to be there but was too slow so cannot get a ticket now so will be standing by the wall on the left hand side where those without seats stand. I am there for CTL I want another chat with their CFO Gordon Stein.
